What do you think the boy did in the Robinsons orange juice advert?

I keep seeing the advert for Robinsons orange juice squash. What do you think the little boy has done that his mum thinks is funny? I'm trying to imagine why she tells the teacher they'll have a talk and then they just have a laugh. What sort of unimportant issues could the teacher have been bothered by?

( My kids far too old so I can't really remember this kind of thing now)

This advert actually really pisses me off. This type of undermining education staff and gentle parenting is why behaviour is as poor as it is in schools

First reply nailed it.

NOTHING!!! her little angel is never wrong and those teachers got in in for him!!!🙄🙄
I mean his telling the teacher to “get fucked she’s a stupid bitch and no one needs to do schoolwork” is his truth isn’t it!!

Such a strange advert. I wonder if there's any teachers out there who can see the humour in it.

I think it's a crap advert. I think of a Robinsons mum as being a weak ineffectual parent who undermines teachers and then wonders why the kid has behaviour problems

There was uproar when the advert was first released. That was ages ago. I thought they’d scrapped it.

my son got into trouble once for telling a girl that dinosaurs used to be real. She cried. He got into trouble for “scaring her”. I laughed. Not because the girl cried but because the teacher was genuinely expecting me to tell him off for stating a scientific fact 🙄

I hate that ad and have actually stopped buying the product.

Same with the Tesco ad where the little fecker steals some grapes and then it’s all fun and games with the monster giving fruit out to everyone.

I didn't know it was an old asvert..Seeing it all the time. I'm off sick at the moment so watching more telly than normal.

I think that's really appropriate. My dad was a teacher and I know he'd be disgusted to see it. I can't understand who they think it would appeal to..

I’d never seen it before the recent ones on, agree has put me off Robinsons!

DH and I had a convo about this Robinsons ad just yesterday. We both think it sets a bad example that the parent thinks her son’s behaviour is funny after the teacher has had a word with her. Looking at the behaviour of the kids around where I live it’s probably true to life 🤬

24Dogcuddler · 17/05/2026 16:03

Really annoying advert. Doesn’t focus too much on the conversation but sounds like low level disruption/ messing about maybe.
Teacher must have noticed a change or deterioration in behaviour or attention to be mentioning it ( as they would in reality)
Parent should either be nipping this in the bud or having a conversation to see if he’s having problems, is he tired etc.
Instead they just laugh about it as if she’s his mate.
