Resort World Birmingham....thoughts on this

Picking DS up at Birmingham Airport tomorrow night 9.30pm.

Dont want to go into Solihull or nearby towns or Birmingham. Just want 1 place with everything there, as been a hectic week.

But have found Resort World??? Looks like its near airport, £3.50 carparking for 12 hours if you spend £20 in bars, restaurants, shops etc. Seems a good option for us to waste a few hours...was thinking:

Mooch around shops
Get food
Go to cinema around 6ish

Time film finishes we could take a slow drive over to airport.

I assume you can get easily from Birmingham international train station to resorts world? If so, you can get the monorail from the airport to the station, then on to resorts world so you can wait there for him?

ETA: do check carefully though - every time I’m in that area at the moment, something else has changed due to the HS2 work being done

We are driving from East Midlands - an hour away - to pick him up but rather than sit waiting all day just thought we'd do something...dont want to go into B'ham though and just do stuff under one roof

There’s not a lot at resort worlds tbh and it all shuts early on a Sunday. The shops are small and the food places are busy.

I was there on a Sunday to see Florence and the Machine and honestly I really regretted not going into Birmingham instead.

It’s fine! There are a few shops to mooch about in and a few restaurants. We have been when we have an early flight and got a hotel. It’s quite nice too. The area is interesting as there is the NEC and a few other leisure things and a huge lake, it’s a an odd place but fine for a mooch. It is quite unique tho. It’s more like an outlet than anything.

You don't need to drive from Resorts World to the airport it's about a 10min walk.
Where are you in the Midlands? Northamptonshire?
Catch the train (from Northampton/Long Buckby) to Birmingham International, spend the day at Resorts world, wander to the airport to meet your Son and then all catch the train home.

Even if you park at Resorts world you can walk over to the airport and leave the car in Resorts World car park and help carry his luggage back (I assume he's got a suitcase on wheels and a rucksack?)

If all else fails you there is a bar at the top of resorts world and you can sit and drink cups of tea all afternoon/evening or the Casino?

There’s not enough at resorts world for all day I don’t think.

It depends what shops you want. Solihull really isn’t far at all and is more likely to keep you entertained for longer

Picking him up at 9.30pm so wasnt planning on going here all day. Prob getting there around:

4pm and mooch shops
5ish grab food
6pmish cinema for a couple of hours
8.30pm/9pm head over to airport and wait
