Feelgood film/series to watch with 11 year old?

Trying to find a good film to watch on this chilly afternoon. Something feelgood or comedy would be nice, or just a really good quality story. We've seen all the usual children's options, Paddington etc. I would like something slightly more grown up but still suitable. So many channels, why can't I find anything? So much seems to have heavy stuff in where are all the lighthearted good ones? Any suggestions would be welcome. We have prime, netflix, now tv cinema and apple.

First one that comes to mind is Fly Away Home lovely family story about a girl who trains geese to migrate.
Any of the classic musicals, Mary Poppins etc.

Man vs Baby on Netflix - it is Christmassy though. Or Man bs Bee if it’s still on there

This. Any Disney Kung fu panda is good but if you want someone more mature looking the Parent Trap is a classic or 13 going on 30! Ferris buller or any of those! War Games, the goonies 😂

Have you watched Oliver? The original Charlie and the Chocolate factory? Star Wars or an Indiana Jones film?

Actually scrap that, what about Stardust?

Whatwouldnanado · 16/05/2026 16:44

Cheaper by the Dozen.

School of Rock was a massive hit here recently, slightly younger DS

Happynow · 16/05/2026 18:03

Hunt for the Wilderpeople is a lovely film

puffylovett1 · 16/05/2026 18:10

Girl and the Sea on Disney, a lot more grown up but very feel good.
Or Stardust as previously mentioned

XelaM · 16/05/2026 18:11

HEARTLAND (Netflix) is an amazing series for that age-group. My daughter absolutely loved it (as did I)

KeyLimeCake · 16/05/2026 18:12

The Princess Bride.
Although I think that might be Disney, which you don't mention.

Some great suggestions, thanks all!
