Frog Bikes bought by Frasers Group after going into administration

Haven’t seen anyone mention it but Frog Bikes went into administration and Mike Ashley’s group bought it.

They were such a good British brand.

According to an email sent to suppliers, Frog’s intellectual property, brand and bike stock have all been sold to the new owner. Sadly, the brand has been unable to secure financial means to continue manufacturing within the UK. The Pontypool factory — a genuine point of British manufacturing pride — is gone. The email noted: “It is, of course, disappointing that we were unable to find an investor to take on the factory and continue operations as they were.”

Thing is, the prices we are all willing to pay for stuff don't match the costs of producing them in the UK. Even some Landrovers are made in Slovenia or somewhere etc.

Government wouldn't support this because they love costs going down so that inflation lowers.

Rubbish though for the children's cycle world.

Shame

I am absolutely willing to pay good money for a British made bike that lasts as well as Frogs do. What I don’t want and won’t pay for is the Frog name and inferior quality made elsewhere.

So that's both Frog and Islabikes gone. What a shame.
