Good morning from dd1's uni accommodation bed! We're just waking up & she's about to go and make me a brew.

Once I've drunk that, I'll shower & get sorted for the day. We're heading out soon ish to do some shopping - Fortnums for the biscuitorium, Harrods to browse things we can't afford, Liberty for the haberdashery department...wherever else we can think of.

We'll have a good wander then head to eat somewhere - I suggested Chinatown 😋.

After that, we'll see where the wind takes us!

Dd2's home with their dad. She's off to school for another English Lit revision session, then they're heading out for dinner somewhere. I'll find out where later.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam , what a wonderful way to spend the day! I’m unashamedly envious 😁 Chinatown is amazing for food, DS and family have a favourite place for authentic cuisine they visit on special occasions.
So far DH has walked tiddler who’s hogging my chair because it’s in the sun, I have cleaned the kitchen, watered my houseplants and repotted 6 of them (very long overdue).
DH will take bigger dog out in a bit (she’s asleep in a patch of sunlit carpet), I will do some more embroidery.
I made fish cakes for today’s dinner, we’ll have chips and peas with them.
Little else happening here!
i hope you have a great weekend in London x

elQuintoConyo · 16/05/2026 09:34

Prepping the house for the exchange student we having coming in from Italy this afternoon. It's all systems go!

BlessedAreThePureOfHeart · 16/05/2026 09:38

At the moment I am watching my daughters do their aerial silks class.

Then back home to catch up on housework and laundry for a bit then catching the train into town to take them for their eyes tests.

After that we're meeting my elder daughter and all 4 of us going to watch The Sheep Detectives and then a Maccies!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 16/05/2026 09:49

Good morning lucysmam and others. That sounds like a lovely day. Elquinto I hope they settle in well.
I've been up for ages and had two coffees, a cuppa and a slice of toast. The sheets etc have been washed and are now drying, I've been to Aldi and im having another cup of tea before hoovering. We are having a family get together at a local restaurant later and ds is coming too. Then later I will potter about. Possibly fajitas for dinner. Enjoy your day all.

frozendaisy · 16/05/2026 09:52

@lucysmam
take into account the Tommy Robinson/pro Palestine marches
and FA cup final
basically parts of London are going to be horrendous today

I am just waking for a day of feeding the seven teenagers

Kim82 · 16/05/2026 09:54

Good morning everyone, I’ve not posted on here for a week or two as we’ve had so much going on but this weekend is a much needed quiet one for me. I was up at 7.30am and saw dh before he left for work, dd11 has just been picked up by my dsis and she’s dropping her off at her dance show practice for me while I wait for my Tesco delivery which is due any minute. After I’ve sorted that I’ll make a start on cleaning the house top to bottom. I need to pick dd11 up at 12.30pm and the nip to Iceland as I really fancy some Swedish meatballs for tea but they weren’t available at Tesco. I’ll then get dd11 a McDonald’s for her dinner as she’ll be starving after dancing for 2 hours. Back home to finish the cleaning and washing then I can hopefully spend the rest of the afternoon reading as a colleague lent me a book yesterday which I want to start today as it looks good.

This evening dh is off to the pub and I’m planning a nice, long shower, pjs and either continuing to read or if dd11 fancies a film we’ll do that instead. I may pick up a bottle of wine too but haven’t decided yet.

devildeepbluesea · 16/05/2026 09:55

Morning all! So far I’ve walked the mutt, had a shower and prepped tonight’s tea (takeaway doner kebabs and flatbreads).

Rehearsal for our youth theatre group this afternoon, then another dog walk.

Tonight it’s food, Eurovision and wine!

have a fab time in London @lucysmam

gingercat02 · 16/05/2026 10:15

Morning all, I'm eating toast and banana with a lot of coffee. Need to chase my hangover, as I'm volunteering at 11.
Need to have a quick lunch and then pick my mum up from the airport at 3.
I may then lie on the sofa for the rest of the day!
Takeaway for tea as we didn't have one last night as I was out. Anything on the telly is fine apart from Eurovision.

DilemmaDelilah · 16/05/2026 10:17

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I don't really have anything planned for today. We may go out somewhere but we've had quite a busy week (for us) and it might be quite nice just to mooch around for a bit.

I'm missing Houdini and his mummy. It will be several months before I see them again. I'm not quite sure when... but probably August some time.

I'm not even doing any cooking at the moment as I am trying very hard (and not succeeding very well) to lose weight so I'm eating mainly ready meals so that I have portion control. Mr Dilemma is happy sorting out his own food, as it means he can eat all the things I don't like so don't usually cook. I think he's having a prawn and chilli pasta with asparagus this evening. Not sure what mine will be. Whatever is on the top of the pile of ambient meals in the cupboard I should think - with broccoli and maybe some carrots. I can't get excited about it.

There is a wash on already. I may get out the crafting project that has been put on hold for a while for various reasons. Keeping my hands and mind busy will help to keep my mind off food..... We have been playing a LOT of scrabble for the same reason!

My veggie patch has started to do well. My marrows are growing like wildfire, my beetroot are getting quite bushy tops now and my celery looks great! My first sugarsnap pea plants are growing and the second sowing are ready to be planted out. I am, however, very disappointed with my tomato plants and my peppers have failed nearly completely. Let's hope my tomatoes suddenly start to thrive.

FennelGingerJasmineOrMint · 16/05/2026 10:24

Good morning. I’m about to start clearing out the box room. Who knows what amazing things I will find stuffed under the bed. A tip run is planned for later in the day.

OchreSwan · 16/05/2026 10:37

Good morning all, hope you enjoy your day in London @lucysmam! Sounds like you have such a lovely relationship with your daughters.

I’ve been out for a run this morning, just finishing off some yoghurt with plums and homemade granola, and a coffee.

DP out with friends later, and we’re both out with friends tomorrow so we’ll do the food shopping shortly to get it done with. Then I’ll have the house to myself, which I’ve not had in absolutely ages! Might mosey into the high street to look for some new running shorts and pick up something for dinner from M&S. Then hopefully just a very lazy day on the sofa.

ShipshapeShore · 16/05/2026 10:49

Dance show day. Leaving in about 20 mins and will get home about 9pm. I have volunteered to help chaperone for the dress run - I must be mad! Really looking forward to seeing the dances though.

Mydogisagentleman · 16/05/2026 11:00

Have been up since 6.30. Walked the dog and had some toast. 3 loads of washing on the line and another one in the machine.
Bed dismantled and in the hall waiting for collection.
Went to the local bakery and got some fancy pants cakes. Supermarket for a bottle of rum to take to our friends place later to thank them for having doggo when we go to Tangier for 3 nights.
Watered my balcony garden and discovered the cause of my failing lemons. bought a spray to treat that

thebeautifulsky · 16/05/2026 11:10

Good morning @lucysmam and all. What a wonderful day you have planned.

An early start here with a couple of coffees watching the birds in the garden. I love using the Merlin app to see how many types of birds are out there. I've already done my walk up and over the hills. It was a beautiful sunny morning and now the thick dark clouds are taking over.

We're going out soon. We're having an afternoon tea with a couple of friends. Not much else planned. Our usually Saturday night in front of the TV with snacks I think.

Have a good day all.

lucysmam · 16/05/2026 11:30

@frozendaisy dd's accommodation is in Wembley so we're leaving shortly.

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone - having a slow day as full of cold. I had quite a lot planned for yesterday & today but put most of it on hold. Didn’t have a very good night so went back to sleep after DH left for work & got up sometime after 9.30. I had a hot shower which helped whatever I’ve done to my left arm/upper back/neck. Possibly a trapped nerve. Contemplating a 2nd cuppa. DH’s bike gear is in the washing machine as he went for a ride yesterday evening. Not much else in the linen basket. I need some white bits to do as there’s a white bathmat which has been in there weeks now. There’s a load to hang out but weather looking a bit iffy here in Cornwall. After my cuppa, I’ll sort the dishwasher & wipe down the surfaces. There are some pots to do by hand too. Bathroom is well overdue for a clean, although the other day I did get round to clearing the windowsill of DD17’s hairdyes etc & putting them in a nice duck egg blue storage box under the wall cupboard. Sold a ring & a Laura Ashley vest top on Vinted but will wait till Monday to post them. I have parcels to collect too. Will have to get the In post one over the weekend as it’s a short collection window. DD17 has emerged & is looking online for KFC offers (delivery). She started off requesting Maccies. Nearly £16 later! DH & I are having chicken tagine for tea, using an Asda Lebanese jar sauce & served with instant fruity couscous. We say every year that we won’t watch Eurovision but always do! I haven’t heard our entry all the way through yet. Don’t think I’m missing much! Have a good Saturday all 🙂

Thislittlekitten · 16/05/2026 12:24

Afternoon Saturday Squad

Enjoy your day @lucysmam. Sounds fab.

This morning has ran away from me. Woke early by the dog for a pee, 530am! Dozed off and on and read some news on my phone for a few hours.

Been to pharmacy, baker and butcher while walking dog. Snooze time for him now.

Meeting a friend in a few hours for another dog walk then family over for a bit. Will probably watch Eurovision tonight.

Tea is pulled pork made by DH, looking forward to that.

frozendaisy · 16/05/2026 12:41

lucysmam · 16/05/2026 11:30

@frozendaisy dd's accommodation is in Wembley so we're leaving shortly.

Opposite flow thankfully!

Have a great day hope you can get to what you want

Giggorata · 16/05/2026 13:01

Good morning lucysmam and all.

Keeping an eye on the weather, as I have the last of the bedding on the line.
Trying to work out how to organise all the stuff from the (now sold) cottage that I brought down… I have a towel and bedding mountain!
Some of it is going to my friend, along with a lot of pots and pans, cutlery, etc. It seems they may have sold their house. 🤞 In the meantime, I must find somewhere to store them..

I am shaking off a lurgy, so won't be going to the coven tonight.
DH got some trout out of the freezer, so I'll see what I can do with that.
We haven't got a lot of fresh stuff in, but DH was horrified at the prospect of going shopping on a crowded Saturday and ran away to weed the strawberries.

Chelsea26 · 16/05/2026 13:13

Afternoon all!

I’m having quite a lazy day as I was in Liverpool for a work conference Weds-Fri - I work in telly so it was much more boozy than these things tend to be so I am tired!

I went for a lovely walk around the city on Friday morning before getting the train home (with the obligatory M&S picnic!) which was good. I do like to find time to see where I am at these things.

We had Shakshuka for breakfast again and I dropped DS1 at golf, DP has gone to play cricket, DS2 is watching a film up in the garden room and I’m half watching Celtic v Hearts and thinking about meal planning.

I was meant to be going to the supermarket before picking DS1 up from golf but I don’t know if I can be bothered!

After I pick him up I’m heading to mum and dad’s to watch the FA Cup Final with my dad - he’s not well so couldn’t make it to the actual game - I think the boys will probably come with me and watch too.

Dinner will depend on if I get off my butt and go to the shops or not. I could cobble together some sort of pasta dish if I don’t but I’m not sure if I fancy that!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 16/05/2026 14:59

@Chelsea26 thank you - you’ve reminded me to do my meals list for the coming week 🍽️🍽️🍽️

Rainbow1235 · 16/05/2026 16:59

Will be bathing him soon then it will be wine and a series once he’s settled . Enj the rest of your day everyone 🫶

Bringyourfoldingchair · 16/05/2026 20:24

Good evening everyone. Hope it was good days all round. I was at a wedding on Wednesday and am still knackered so an easy weekend here. DS12 had some friends round. I took DS3 to visit some family and my parents and my DSis took DS8 for a play date. House all tidied after a hoard of boys being round and I’m currently having a chill in the bath while DH gets the littlest one down. Can’t decide if I can be bothered to cook steaks for dinner and can’t decide if I should have some Prosecco or a sleepy tea! Will see how the night plays out.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 16/05/2026 20:40

DH is cooking the steaks and I am having the Prosecco :-)

lucysmam · 16/05/2026 20:55

@frozendaisy we did! We were out before Wembley got busy, up to Royal Albert Hall (to study the Florence and the Machine coded "what's on posters" for clues - none found -and look at the building in daylight), & the Albert Memorial as the protesters were getting organised, back to Harrods as they got to the RAH area, Harrods food hall picnic on a little park & then back into central for Fortnums/Liberty.

Thoroughly enjoyed Harrods food hall, ate lots of samples of chocolate, spent more than I should but 🤷‍♀️ it was fun & brought back some delicious looking mochi for this evening. It wasn't as expensive as I expected tbf!

We're both in pj's now, in bed, in silence, with cuppas 🤣.

Hope you've all had nice days? I'm just about to read what everyone's been up to.
