Clothes sizes

I know the official measurements are bigger than they were in the 60s, I'd be a 14 based on my Mum's old dessmaking patterns and I used to buy a 12/14 in the 80s, but I've been wearing a 10 for the last 20 years or so. My weight has never changed within 4/5 pounds.

I've just been round the shops and size 8 jeans in River Island were too big, size 8 tops in Next were massive.

Has there been another jump in sizing?

Also, I'm really not a teeny tiny little thing, where do actual small people shop?

A lot of the posters on here seem to believe this is “vanity sizing” and a stealth tactic in the war against “normal sized” people.
I’m not convinced at all. I think it’s just shit manufacturing. Clothes sizes are all over the place because no effort is being made to make them consistent.
I have clothes in my wardrobe that fit me that range from a fourteen to a 26. Sometimes you can order the exact same thing in the exact same colour and they are not the same size. Clothes are just crap nowadays.

This is true, I've been caught out more than once by ordering the same item in a different colour and finding the sizing (and quality) is completely different
