Would you think I was a queue jumper?

So I walk in the post office and there’s a big queue,I would say around 10 people in front.
A lady was in front of me…so I walked to the back of the shop and sat down on a chair.
When the lady was next to be served I walked into the queue and told the woman behind her that I was behind this lady and that I had just been sitting down as I didn’t want to stand …am I jumping a queue here ?
Is this acceptable ?
Obviously I wasn’t this person..I was the woman in the queue being told that I needed to let her in front of me…I wasn’t happy at all.
The man behind me said “well I can’t be bothered to queue either,shall I go for a coffee and come back in a hour and walk to the front”
It made me laugh ….

I would have been annoyed if I were you. If she's stood there, said to the next person behind her that she couldn't stand for long so was sitting down and could she rejoin, that's one thing, but as it went, she was out of order and the man was bang on.

Do you have a disability that makes it hard for you to stand it did you just not want to?

If the sitter had a disability, then I'd say completely valid. It would have made more sense to mention to the person who arrived after me in the queue to 'mark my space', but I appreciate that may not have been possible.

Didn’t want to or had difficulty? If you just couldn’t be arsed standing in the queue then you’re a CF I’m pretty sure no one liked standing waiting.
if you have difficulty standing for long periods it’s a bit more understandable

I'd probably be internally raising an eyebrow, but I wouldn't cause a confrontation with someone telling me they find it difficult to stand.

Only reasonable explanation would be if she has a disability, I’m assuming not so not unreasonable at all to tell her not to jump the queue

If you didn't see her being in the queue then leaving it to sit then you'd be crazy to believe her. She should've told the person behind or a member of staff she needs a seat but can they save her place. But even then they could refuse.

I’m confused.com can’t really understand if the poster was the cheeky so and so sitting down, the woman who seemed to lose her place or some other random customer!

I don’t think it’s cheeky to sit down and reclaim their position in the queue if they have waited the same amount of time as any other.

queue jumpers don’t wait in line like others, sounds like she did?

Assuming she needed to sit down:

If I was the person who had to sit down I would have explained what I was doing to those in front of me and and behind me in the queue that I couldn't stand and was going to sit.

That way I would have had allies to support me on my return to the queue.

But if she just couldn't be arsed standing then she is a CF

I wouldn't have a confrontation with her. I just wouldn't let her go in front of me.

YY, I would expect the woman sitting to keep saying 'I'm just sitting down because I can't stand, but I've been waiting behind this person here'.

When i was about 8 months pregnant a woman told me she was going outside to have a fag while in the line at the bank. I neither kept her place or informed the man waiting behind me that she was before him. Cheeky sod.

I think this is only acceptable if you make it clear. Im sure if she had said to you im actually in the queue I just can't stand for long then most people would be OK with that

Why? She clearly explains it. "I was the woman in the queue being told that I needed to let her in front of me."

As pps have said, if she has a disability its fair enough for her to want to sit down but she needs to explainethis to the next person when they arrive!

I suppose it depends how far away the "back of the shop" was. If it wasnt actually near the queue then I suppose it sort of makes sense that she didn't want to (or if a mobility issue literally couldnt) hang around waiting for someone to join the queue behind her because she didn't know how long that might be or if they would?
