About to turn 30 next month. Please lay your wisdom on me! In that nervous but excited phase of hitting a new decade.

If you’re not doing it already, take up exercising. Weights & cardio, I wish I’d started at your age.

Freeme31 · 12/05/2026 18:25

Pay into a pension, go as abroad on as many foreign holidays as you can. Don’t give up your girl friends. Practice gratitude and meditation and never compare yourself to anyone you are you & unique.

Just live! Take every opportunity that comes your way. Dont dwell on the not so good stuff

Many women, me included found our 30s to be the best 'era'. Increased confidence, knowledge, hopefully ok health but still plenty of time to experience and learn more. But less concerned about fitting in or being what others expect.

Sort out your pension. Buy a house if you don't have one. Start investing, even just a small amount.
Eat delicious healthy non-UPF food. Give up habits that are bad for your health. Do yoga.
Read Atomic Habits.

I'm early-mid 30s but so far these have been my best years. I have a great job and spare money, which is more than I can say for my 20s.

Pay into your pension, as much as you can spare.
If you're wanting to lose any weight, start now. I've found it infinitely harder than it was in my 20s!
Protect your skin. SPF every day.
Now is the time to cut out the bad habits- smoking, excessive alcohol and energy drinks, exercise for your health (both physical and mental), take care of you!

RichPetuniaAgain · 12/05/2026 18:48

Bloody well just have a great time and a great laugh. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Spend time cultivating all your relationships - in work and with friends and family.

annanardini · 12/05/2026 18:48

This year I have been getting into the best shape I have ever been and am at the lowest weight since I was 21 so it seems I am on the right track there!

Owning a home is impossible for me currently but I do pay into a pension☺️

To remember you’re still very young, and to live by the motto “your 30s are your 20s with money”.

I’m 36 and I’m heading to EDC Las Vegas in a few days. 20something me used to dream of being able to do this. 30something me isn’t going to give up on that dream just because she isn’t in her 20s anymore.

'Buy a house if you don't have one'?!

Ah, yeah I forgot to buy one of those. Better quickly pop and do that now...😕😂

Crushed23 · 12/05/2026 18:54

Oh, and if you see yourself having children one day, freeze your eggs now. So you don’t have to settle for any bag of trash as the father of your children, should you find yourself single in your late 30s.

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 12/05/2026 19:13

Do you have kids? If not do you want them? If you don't know figure it out and make it crystal clear to your current/ any future partner upfront that it's a non negotiable. If you don't want them what do you see your life like in 20/30 years? What can you do to achieve that? Is your partner onboard? If you don't have a partner make whatever your goal for the future is a non negotiable.

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 12/05/2026 19:14

Don't wait for life to happen. Figure out what's important and go get it.

AluckyEllie · 12/05/2026 19:18

Don’t let friendships slip. As me and my friends started getting married, having kids and buying houses/getting into longer term rentals we became more distant. We were busy and lived further away from each other. I have kept some of those relationships strong but others dwindled and faded and a few I really regret loosing.

Good on you! Strength work now will make a bloody big difference later.

Absolutely no kids and no partner. My life is less stressful without either 😂

I wasn’t going to say, but if I could have given my 30 year old self one retrospective piece of advice it would be ‘Have fun, but STAY SINGLE!!!’.

Twattergy · 12/05/2026 21:31

Save botox and fillers etc until your late 40s. Enjoy your natural collagen!

Or just don’t bother with them!

livelovelough24 · 12/05/2026 21:47

30s is the best decade of your life. Just enjoy!

WildGarden · 12/05/2026 22:48

Talk to the older people in your family about their lives and family history.
It might not seem that interesting to you now but when you're sixty and they are gone you'll really want to know that stuff and it will be too late to find out.
