Is anyone else losing their home due to the current renters reform and cant find anywhere to live ? If so what are you planning on doing ?

Happily lived her for 8 years (Other then living next to a David Lloyd who give us hell) and over the past few we've been saving up for a deposit to finally buy sometime late next year.

Our landlord served us a section 21 on April the 17th as he is now selling his portfolio.

We've only a few weeks away from the date we need to move out by and we haven't found anywhere.

One child in the middle of A-levels, The other starting a secondary school in September. We have businesses here, Friends here, I'm a guide leader here etc

I feel so sick by it all, I've had horrendous mouth ulcers . It's the last thing I think about at night, and the first thing I think about in the morning.

Is it that you can't find anywhere you want or been unsuccessful when applying? If you have savings you can offer to pay rent upfront which may make you stand out.

Do you have family you can stay with short term while you keep looking?

We are in a similar position but no children so more flexibility, but struggling to afford a new place in our existing area we have been there 7 years too.

I hope the stress lessens for you soon.

We have found a few and organised viewings and they've just been snapped up whilst waiting. Just before it came in, others offered higher then what we could afford.

Plus house prices have jumped up considerably in the past few months!

With the new renters reform you can no longer pay months in advance to secure a property. We have no family within 100 miles either.

Are you in the south east by any chance ?

My colleague is in this situation too she has a husband and 3 kids all under 11.
She contacted her local council and they said that until nearer the time of the eviction they would weren’t technically homeless. She’s registered to bid on social housing and she’s coming nowhere near getting close to the front of the Que she is quite stressed but they housing officer told her once the eviction date arrives then they become a higher priority but to stay remaining in the property as long as possible and to keep paying rent.

Her main issue is they are currently paying £900 and similar places are either £1500 or they’re being snapped up the minute they’re advertised.

I feel for anyone in this situation. She has also spoken to shelter who she said were quite helpful.
