Amazon have sent me 144 tins of beans- by accident!

I ordered 12 tins of beans from Amazon. And I have been sent 12 packs of 12 cans. Yep, 144 cans of beans. Amazon won't take them back either because they are a food product and have suggested I do what I want with them. It's almost as bad as the time I accidentally ordered 2000-ish toilet rolls (no, that isn't a typo!) in a post surgery, oramorph fuelled haze.
The only saving grace is a) they have a very long date on them and b) I'm a vegetarian.

Has anyone else ever had anything from Amazon like this?

Not quite the same but once I won a prize of a year's supply of whatever brand bottled water. I was expecting vouchers or maybe a monthly delivery. I got a delivery of 3 pallets of water, I think it was about 360 bottles in all. The delivery guy would only leave them outside the house so I was carrying packs of water into my house for ages on a boiling hot days. Those bottles lasted forever! I gave packs away to people who visited and the cats drank bottled water too. I was so pleased when the bloody things ran out!

When I ordered a kitchen from MFI for my first house I got 2 sinks, 20 under cupboard lights & 9 metres of worktop we didn't need, ended up selling them to then bil for his kitchen, then ordered a bed head again from MFI, got sent a double instead of a king-size, rang customer services & got a replacement, got told to keep the other one which I sold.

My friend in the early days of online supermarket shopping ordered 6 bananas, or so she thought and 6kg were delivered.

Having checked the local foodbank they are indeed one of the ones saying 'no more tinned beans please'. However I will keep an eye out throughout the year and drop a few cans in when they need them again.

@AWeeCupOfTeaAndAnIndividualFruitTrifle I have indeed ordered one or two sprouts from the greengrocer before. DH hates them with a passion, teen 1 will eat a few and teen 2 will only eat them under duress. I'm the only one who likes them but I don't want more than a few on my dinner. Thankfully they know us very well-and would definitely query an order for bizarre amounts of vegetables ordered by accident before sending them!

They probably mean no more baked beans. But guess they won’t want tons of black beans either as guess they aren’t hugely popular basic. That’s a lot of beans to get through!

Had several Amazon packages arrived so just opened them all, opened the last one and it was a vibrator- it was my neighbours package.

This is the kind of accident I wish happened to me

During Covid I ordered some printer paper - a box of 5 packs, they sent 5 boxes of 5 packs instead. I’m still have plenty of paper left!

I had the reverse of this situation.

Went to Sainsbury’s for the week’s shop and spend what I guesstimated around 120£. Shock horror when the shop assistant announced 225£.
She must have thought that my face was a poem and started checking the bill herself.
Turns out, I was charged for 50 extra tubes of chives and sour cream pringles at a lovey extra price of 150£ minus 50 for using the nectar card. I only had one in my trolley

They refunded me but the ladies at the till were having a laugh.

I ordered one and received seven Roombas. Their error. They tried to get me to return them but I cited US law that says they can’t charge you for or force you to return a mail order item you didn’t order. Consequently I gave several nice Christmas presents that year!

Why would you not just return them? Someone could have lost their job over a mistake like that. Poor.

Unfortunately they are not baked beans. They're black beans. While I do like stuff like refried beans and the kids will eat a bit as well, we're going to be eating refried beans until the second coming at this rate.

DH who hasnt quite forgotten toilet roll-gate has been asking me if I was actually on planet earth when I ordered them.

Try making chocolate black bean brownies, they are lovely

My DB did that with carrots. Though he'd ordered 8 carrots, received 8kg. I made a lot of carrot soup!

Depending on where you live OP ...

Emmaus Shelter (emmaus.org)
Foodbank / Trussell Trust (trussell.org.uk)
Olio App (olioapp.com)

Plus ...

Any local Churches who provide food for soup kitchens eg.
The American Church in London also operate a much needed soup kitchen (soupkitchenlondon.org).

I have all of these near to me and they would all be very happy to receive donations.

I ordered 2 pieces of brie, Tesco delivered 2kg. My carer received the order so I didn't know until he came through with a carrier bag full of brie.

Then I ordered a sound bar and another item from Curry's, the small item was posted through the door so I contacted them.

A couple of days later the soundbar was delivered, then I received an email cancelling my order and refunding my money.

OP write out a couple of recipes for the beans and hand them over with the beans.

Contact local cafes to see if they can take them.
