Amazon have sent me 144 tins of beans- by accident!

I ordered 12 tins of beans from Amazon. And I have been sent 12 packs of 12 cans. Yep, 144 cans of beans. Amazon won't take them back either because they are a food product and have suggested I do what I want with them. It's almost as bad as the time I accidentally ordered 2000-ish toilet rolls (no, that isn't a typo!) in a post surgery, oramorph fuelled haze.
The only saving grace is a) they have a very long date on them and b) I'm a vegetarian.

Has anyone else ever had anything from Amazon like this?

That'd last our kids about 6 weeks the rate they go through beans 😂 it'd be like winning the lottery for us - enjoy!

ItaGonnaBeMay · 11/05/2026 13:19

It must be nice being Jeff’s personal favourite 😂

Keep some and rest to charity/food bank/good cause.

I got mason jars and a blood pressure monitor once

flapjackfairy · 11/05/2026 14:26

I once ordered something cheap.and ended up.with a one pot pressure cooker. It cost 120 quid . . I told them more than once and put it away to await collection. A few years later it was still there so now I use it all.the time. it has come in v handy and I feel.no guilt as I tried to sort it out and I figure Amazon can survive with their mega millions

CornishPorsche · 11/05/2026 14:34

I cannot tell you how happy my husband would be over 144 tins baked beans 😂

I've not had anything interesting in years sadly. I miss a good freebie.

bugalugs45 · 11/05/2026 14:46

How much did you pay for them ? Guessing the price would be a giveaway whether or not this is a mistake lol . Food bank for sure , failing that local Facebook page ,
sure a few people would take 12 off your hands

Mansionscoldandgrey · 11/05/2026 14:57

Enjoy your beans!

I tried to order 2 toy fire engines from Amazon, some how I ordered 22. They did take 20 back though :) but it was fire engine central in the living room for a while.

Plinketyplonks · 11/05/2026 15:13

My husband once ordered 99 sweet potatoes. We had such a laugh with the Tesco delivery driver about all these trays of potatoes! Luckily he took them back.

Dollymylove · 11/05/2026 15:22

With 144 Tins of beans you will be able to blast yourself into outer space without the need for a rocket 🚀 🤣🤣

MaidMiriam · 11/05/2026 12:09

Also, what did you do with the 2000 toilet rolls (apart from the obvious)???

They'll come in handy now with all those beans.

henlake7 · 11/05/2026 15:57

Awesome, I love baked beans. Id be well happy!😄

I did once get 10 times the amount of dog food Id ordered from Amazon. Id ordered a months worth too so it lasted me nearly a year!

Bananajam · 11/05/2026 18:09

I ordered a suitcase and when it arrived, there was a very realistic looking baby's head with material body and plastic limbs inside that I definitely hadn't ordered! I kept it in the loft for about a year and then sold it on ebay. It wasn't packaged so no address to return and Amazon didn't care. I assume whoever ordered it got a replacement and I got a few ££ when I sold it..

During Zcovid when ordering from Morrisons recipe boxes, they would include a full sized tem like honey/soy sauce rather than sachet with every recipe so if you ordered meals with the same ingredients, you would get multiple bottles of sauce/flavouring. We ended up with a large quantity of Worcestershire sauce. We still have a bottle left.

paperlightshade · 11/05/2026 18:39

Unfortunately they are not baked beans. They're black beans. While I do like stuff like refried beans and the kids will eat a bit as well, we're going to be eating refried beans until the second coming at this rate.

DH who hasnt quite forgotten toilet roll-gate has been asking me if I was actually on planet earth when I ordered them.

I once got sent a box of 100 items instead of 1 item. This was from the hut group not Amazon. A hair product travel size. I hadn’t used it before and wasn’t particularly impressed with it so still have about 90 left to use. I might give them to a charity shop actually.

Donate them to Women's Aid if you have a local one, they are always grateful for personal hygiene products 🙏

Mummysboymum · 11/05/2026 18:45

If you haven’t paid for them all I’m not sure why you wouldn’t just be giving most of the extras away to food banks.

FIFIBEBE · 11/05/2026 12:33

Currently donating Soap and Glory products to charity shops weekly. A well known chemist shop initially only send a third of my order to me. Customer Services dealt with this by sending hundreds of bottles of product over seven deliveries. They told me to keep it all or donate. The local Foodbank don’t want anymore and it’s quite heavy taking it up and down the high street to various charities and friends no longer want it. In a few months it will all have gone and I’m left thinking this must happen all the time.

What about your local schools? Raffle prizes are commonly requested near the end of term for fundraising. Quick way to offload them all.

Monty36 · 11/05/2026 18:53

I had a leg delivered once. Not a real one of course. Spent a short while wondering who walked a bit oddly. Couldn’t decide. Sent it back.

Cheesesteakyum · 11/05/2026 19:09

I ordered an expensive bit of electrical kit for DH Christmas once and got a pack of four of them instead, took ages to sort out and we got a gift card as a thankyou for returning so that was quite nice karma.

Said toilet rolls were kept in the garage. It took us years to get through them. DH almost fell off his perch when the van turned up and the damn things kept on coming. The kids (teens) thought it was hilarious- both the sheer quantities and DH's apoplexy.
How did it happen? DH said 'we need more' so I ordered them. However I didnt register that a pack of toilet rolls was already a multipack so added way more than I should have done into the shopping basket and then clicked 'buy now'.

This has tickled me...

Dbank · 11/05/2026 20:22

I would keep them, but open a window first...

Sidebeforeself · 11/05/2026 20:33

Ive seen local food banks post “please no more beans or pasta” !

intrepidpanda · 11/05/2026 20:37

Just calculated it would take us 38 years to get through 2000 toilet rolls
Dont eat baked beans often either.

Sorry just realised itcaas black beans. I do eat them more often.
