Has anybody used one of those We Buy Any House type companies?

I keep getting adverts come up for them and I am thinking of selling so I'm wondering whether that would simplify things, or whether there's a good reason why more people don't use them. I'm imagining that they try to knock the price right down?

What have your experiences been?

I looked into it recently. They will likely offer you 70% of the value of your property, and then potentially drop the offer significantly (based on a spurious survey etc) just before exchange to force you into accepting it. Proceed with caution.

Not worth it, you will only get 60-70 percent of what the house is actually worth.

Don’t do it! My Dad got 99% of the way with one of these companies & they dropped their offer significantly just before everything was about to go through.

They take advantage of desperate and vulnerable people.

I was also advised against this when selling a probate property because it would be an artificial way of getting a lower price and might be seen as some sort of tax dodge.
