2 events in Brighton/London/Kent - is this doable travel wise?

Hi, calling all Londoners for some advice. I have a conference in Brighton that I HAVE to attend but could leave a 2 or 3pm. Then another work event in Shoreditch High St at 6pm that I want to attend but don't have to. I could stay in a Travelodge/Premier Inn after or head to Stratford to go home to Kent (Ashford).

I've googled it and it looks like a PITA and complicated. If you know East London - is this doable or not worth the bother? I would have a hotel in Brighton the night before the conference.

Thanks

I had a look on citymapper for today. Journey itself doesn't look too bad depending on distance to station at each end.
Catch 15.14 from Brighton, arrive Blackfriars16.21
Change to District line (easy change, it isn't a huge station) 6 stops/11 mins to Whitechapel change to Wind rush line (overground) Citymapper says it's a 2 min change
One stop from Whitechapel to Shoreditch High St arrive 16.40

Only you can decide if it's worth it but journey doesn't look too bad.

Yes perfectly doable. What station does the Brighton line go in to? Victoria? You’ll get there in plenty of time if you can leave at 3pm. Don’t forget you could go to Liverpool Street Station (on Circle) and walk from there to Shoreditch High St - it’s only 10-15 min walk. If that makes it easier. I’ve not used the Elizabeth line yet but I’m assuming that’s what you mean re going from Shoreditch to Stratford? Personally, I would go to St Pancras because (depending on the time of day obvs) you don’t always get a seat at Stratford.

When are you going? V difficult to get a one night stay in Brighton…

the journey is bitty but doable. How much do you want to go to the Shoreditch event and what time will it finish?

Definitely doable.

really helpful everyone. I can weigh it up now. I found plotting the journey confusing so am grateful to have been given a few options

How far is the conference centre from Brighton train station? On the face of it, it’s a straightforward journey. Leaving at 3pm will give you loads of time. Depending on the finish time, the journey from Shoreditch to Ashford should also be straightforward. Long day for you though!

thanks all. Conference is near Hove station so that's ok. I didn't realise Shoredirch was on the tube! It will be a long day which is why I'm deliberating and assessing the journey logistics

Exactly. It might be easier to stay overnight in London.
