Omaze Cornwall House

Have we had a thread about this? I can't find one. I must have missed the email announcement as I've just seen it today. I thought it had been a while since the last house was announced.

It's another modern one, which I'm less keen on, but it's useable - not huge, but big enough for a family. The layout is a bit odd. There's a ground floor and a lower ground floor, and the sitting room leads directly to the pool - in fact, the only entrance to the house from the pool seems to be through a door into the sitting room. As usual, there is a lot of outdoor seating, with no obvious place to put it all when it rains.

At first I thought it was perilously close to the sea, but the opening film shows it's on a cliff - fabulous views all round. I would go for the summer, then sell it, I think.

Any thoughts?

I don’t know if this is true but someone told me those Omaze homes come with lots of hidden costs/ service charges.

I could still commute so might enter.

Neighbouring property for sale too.

Yet the council tax banding as only one band up from my modest 4 bed new build social housing property on an estate. It’s shocking that these million pound homes don’t actually contribute more!

There’s always a drawback with these houses. The cliff is probably eroding, which could be why a neighbouring property is also up for sale. I think the entry for these draws is expensive too. If I’m going to spend that much on gambling, I’d rather just buy a few lottery tickets and choose my own house!

People always go on about the problems, but the winner gets a house virtually free, plus £250k to spend on it. It might not sell for the advertised price, but nobody is going to lose out.
