How are hayfever sufferers doing today?

Is anyone else having a major day of it today?

I'm not sure if it's really bad hayfever or if I'm catching a bug. I actually have aches and pains as well as the sneezing and a little bit of coughing. I think it's hayfever.... I hope I'm not catching a bug!

It's cold and damp where I am with low pollen, so no issues today.

It's tree pollen that affects me February-April, so luckily I'm past having to suffer.

Have you had a look on the met office/Kleenex sites to see what pollen levels are like in your area? Also, does hayfever normally cause you to cough, or is it more sneezing, sore throat, nose/eye irritation?

Lovely sunny day here but low pollen so I've worked in the garden this morning before it got too hot. Windows and patio doors open not a sniffle in sight. You shouldn't get aches and pains with hay-fever so that suggests you're coming down with something else. (I have hay-fever and asthma and don't cough with hay-fever unless I'm really streaming and can't breathe properly. )

Hayfever (grass) has begun… today… bleurgh

EmeraldRoulette · 09/05/2026 16:25

So round my way, tree pollen is high which makes sense

I started feeling that "do I have a bug?" feeling yesterday, but felt much better in the evening which makes sense if it's hayfever

Also, am much worse after going out for a walk

I think it's tree pollen that's my issue - I don't think it's grass pollen.

However, some years it doesn't follow any pattern at all

Last year, I was absolutely fine with just my nasal spray

This year, I've had quite a few days where I've used the spray and had to take a tablet as well. I've also had a few days of looking puffy with it and my eyes tend to water regardless of what eyedrops I use

Having aches and pains is new - that's why I thought it might be a bug. But I suppose if it's all just triggering inflammation in the body, then it might be that?

I've had a huge amount of dental work and it's ongoing so I've been having to take Nurofen because of that - I'm a bit worried because it affects my stomach quite badly, so I don't really want to take it for today's aches and pains. Just have to hope it goes away.

@SleepingisanArt i'm inclined to agree with you that hayfever wouldn't cause aches and pain, but I can see with high inflammation that might be a link.

I'm really appreciating this sunny weather! Sorry to moan about hayfever, I just thought I'd put it to the collective and see what you guys think.

Says low on bbc website but was high on a pollen (Kleenex) website, it listed all 3 pollens.

Tree pollen is a pita at the moment. I’ve thought it’s a cold but no it’s hayfever.

EmeraldRoulette · 11/05/2026 19:37

Okay I think I have got a bug
Or my body is doing it's best to fight it off and that's the rundown feeling

It was harder to tell at the weekend

But after a day of work. I'm having to run around a lot, I feel a slight fever and those kind of aches and pains you get with a bug

Annoying
paracetamol is doing nothing

I suppose on the plus side it means hayfever isn't that bad!

I am struggling. Post nasal drip, itchy nose and eyes, aching sinuses.

i am taking an antihistamine daily which is helping but also making me sleep a lot.

i think it’s the oilseed rape which is growing in the field behind work. I know that’s an unusual trigger as the pollen doesn’t normally travel but it’s about 10m behind our window.

EmeraldRoulette · 11/05/2026 20:09

@Notmeagain12 I don't think that's an unusual trigger

It used to set me off, even if I just drove past it
