So my ultimate 2026 British tv cliche series is named a single word- maybe "Left" or "Disappeared". Stars Siobhan Finneran as a hard bitten but likable 50stgg detective who lives with her female partner played by Suranne Jones. Investigating the mysterious disappearance of a gifted 19 year old female student who was home for rhe holidays and working in a pub run by Emmett Scanlan, who is estranged from his ballsy northern ex wife Sheridan Smith.
Olivia Colman plays the head of a local school attended by the missing girls twin younger brothers, one of whom is a gifted sportsman the other bookish and withdrawn. A female character with a central European accent will be the boys live in nanny, and has a particular bond with the quieter boy. She has a sick older family member in her own country, and has had a fling with Emmett Scanlan.
Siobhan Finneran will have a kindly but ineffectual older male boss who is always telling her to take more time off, but she is relentless. The crime will be solved one night over those weird four opening Chinese takeaway boxes when Siobhan has a sudden flash of inspiration. Ok thats my effort. Yours?
