My kindle died. It’s years old and I had an email last year that the software was no longer supported…it’s now very much dead.
I don’t need anything fancy, possibly the one with the back light if that’s still a thing but that’s not essential.
definitely don’t need any colour options or the one that’s like a tablet.
I just checked Amazon and there’s too many options. Chat

Look up refurbished ones on amazing. I got a paperwhite for £40 and it’s immaculate as it’s been refurbished by Amazon.

The bog standard basic one has a backlight now. I have it and it's comfortable to hold, small enough to fit in a pocket/bag easily, but a big enough screen to read comfortably.

If you don't want any of the fancier features then get the basic one. Maybe go for a refurb if you want to save money.

I didn’t know that was even a thing! I’ll need to have a look
i mainly use it on holiday but I want less time on my phone and like reading so instead of doom scrolling the night away was trying to get back into reading more.

I got mine for the same reason. I trained myself into using the kindle app on my phone during downtime instead of randomly scrolling feeds, but after a while I found reading on bright screen uncomfortable and wanted something a similar size but with an e-ink display.

I went from reading less than 10 books a year to finishing 50 a year once I got it and I didn't change my daily routine much - just swapped devices.

This is the one I have. It's the same height as my phone but about an inch wider. You can save money shopping around for refurbished ones but they also have much shorter warranties.
