How can I protect my ear from the hair dresser's sharp scissors?

Went to Camden for a haircut. Half way through the hair cut i felt a sharp pain followed by a bleeding ear lobe caused by the hair dresser's scissors.
Few years ago i suffered a similar incident when i ended up with small cuts at the back of my neck.
I am a female and these incidents leave me terrified of having hair cuts but it has to be done.
For the next time, how can i protect my ear from a cut from the hair dresser's sharp scissors?
Thank you for your advice.

Change salon! I've never been snipped but I had a stylist a few years ago who would comb through your hair and practically gouge your ear off!

Completely agree with PPs, this should never happen, switch hairdressers. It happened to me once and the stylist was absolutely mortified although it was a genuine accident

Have you got unusually sticky outy earlobes? Just ask the hairdresser to be careful!
