Endoscopy soon and my nose stud seems stuck in place

Hi I’m having an endoscopy soon and have been told to remove all piercings. However I’ve had my nose stud in for 20 odd years and the hole has closed up around it. How do I get it out? I think it would need to be cut out! What do you think? Tia

Go to a decent piercing place and theyll be able to remove it. This may be uncomfortable.

Thanks @NeverDropYourMooncup I’ll do that. Yep it’s gonna really really hurt , I’ve been trying to get it out myself and it’s so sore now. I thought I might have to go to A & E and have it cut out 🥴

Are you having a nasal endoscopy or oral? If it’s that well fixed and it’s not a nasal scope it’ll probably be fine (best to phone them and discuss it with someone medical though). The risks with leaving it in will be a small chance of trauma to the nose if it gets snagged on anything and if it were to come loose it could end up being inhaled. If it’s so well stuck that you can’t get it out it might not be a massive problem. ED won’t cut it out.

@Greybeardy its an oral one. I can remove my lip piercing just fine so that’s no problem and yes as the nose stud is stuck there’s no chance of it coming out during the procedure and causing a problem. I will give the department a call tomorrow and see what they say. Thanks
