Trying to open new savings account and this banks form has fields for my nominated account (acc number and sort code standard stuff) but also a mandatory field for ‘roll number /reference’

Maybe I’m being stupid but I don’t think I have ever had one so initially put N/a but it won’t accept it

please ignore typo in title meant roll number

My mum has a building society account where the roll number is the account number with another two digits at the end.

Is it the roll number for the new account they want? So that when you send funds it goes to the right account. Give them a ring if you're not sure.

Just had this with Cynergy. I just put a reference for my own benefit and tried a test with a fiver before transferring the whole amount.

Put your name or the name of the bank you're sending money from as a reference. Some building societies have roll numbers so if you dont have one just put a simple reference
