I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in the conservatory, but not in my spot as I moved things about to paint yesterday. The cats have been fed & boy cat's currently sitting on one of the remaining boxes, birdwatching.

Dd2's awake but not up yet. She's off up to school in a while for a revision session one of her teachers has offered before tomorrow's exam. She's returning some revision cards and other bits from school too.

Dd1's not up yet, probably won't be for a while. I did ask her to help me with the conservatory today, but will probably have finished before she even surfaces!

I want to clean all the conservatory windows today, finish painting the bookshelf to go in here for my craft things, and gloss the other side skirting. Shouldn't take too long so I'll potter at other bits in between.

We're having roast gammon for tea, with cauli cheese, roasties and gravy. Probably carrots or another veg as well, since dd2's not keen on cauli cheese. Trifle for afters 😋.

Then showers all round, an hour's chill with my book (I've been reading the same one for a long time!!), and an early one ready for work in the morning 💤.

What are you all up to? 🙂

Second cuppa of the day. On my laptop doing work as it’s very busy at the moment so taking advantage of no interruptions to get things done.

plan today is to potter round the house although I do need to pop out later to fill car with fuel and I’ll stick it through the car wash.

husband is working as has meetings today (non uk based company) and the teenager is still fast asleep in bed.

Ill pop to the gym at some point today and get some picky bits for tea.

ViciousCurrentBun · 04/05/2026 08:57

Friend round for lunch, I made leek and potato last night and making the bread this morning. Will start packing clothes for our trip away on Thursday in our motorhome. Also going to make a small evening bag, we are at a friends party when away and I can't find one I like, she has hired a Manor House and it’s quite a big do. Need to locate the photo of us together at primary school to make a birthday card for her. Will fit in a walk at some point and also my physio stretches. DH is trying to finish a carpentry project, it’s taken ages but it’s a total remodel of the space under the stairs and has made great storage space.

Thislittlekitten · 04/05/2026 08:57

Morning All

Woke up early by hungry cat and dog. All animals fed now. Had my breakfast.

DD is fast asleep but I can hear DS stirring. DH working today.

We are taking DDog out for a big walk in a few hours then I must tackle the ironing. Need to pick up pack lunch bits too.

Lasagne for tea and hopefully an early night. I could get used to a 3 day weekend. I actually feel very relaxed today.

mangotoo · 04/05/2026 08:59

Not for me thanks

SkyBlueGingham · 04/05/2026 09:08

Morning all. We got back from holiday yesterday so today is one of those get all the laundry done, unpack everything properly, hoover up sand 700 times kind of days. It’s grey and gloomy out but if it doesn’t rain I’ll need to pop up to the allotment to water everything.

We have no food in so I’ll need to sort out a meal plan for the week and go food shopping too.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 04/05/2026 09:15

Good morning lucysmam and others. I have been awake since half five and my wee grandsons peeked in at half six. They were delighted grandma was awake. So they've had a smoothie, pancakes, waffles, a milk shake and will shortly be hungry again. 😂. Dgs1 is on his ipad, dgs2 is playing with slime in the kitchen. I have had 2 coffees, 2 cuppas and a slice of toast. I'm now trying to avert a tantrum from dgs2 who can't get the slime back in the tub. They are going before lunch time and I will collapse.

keepswimming38 · 04/05/2026 09:19

I’m up, had a shower and waiting until daughter (20) needs me. She came out of hospital last month after contracting an infection in her spinal fluid. She was able to run 5k and was on a nursing course, now she is struggling to walk and wash herself. Contemplating how life can change in an instant and what the hell im going to do about my job. Anyway, that’s my BH.

HeyHowdyHey · 04/05/2026 09:29

Morning all. Happy bank holiday.

Woke up around an hour ago with ds2. Sun is shining here so the washing machine going with a load of towels and another load will go in after that.

Almost teen still snoring and toddler dd just woke up. Coffee an pain au chocolat for breakfast this morning. DH is working.

Today ds1 has plans with a friend to go for a bike ride, ds2 will play out with his friends and dd will potter round the garden with me. We’ve got some blooms on our strawberries and buds on our blueberries so looks like we will get some delicious fruit again this year. Got some deadheading to do and a tidy up of the garden toys.
We’ve spent the weekend decluttering and sorting the house out which feels great but the garden needs some help now. The car is already packed up with a load of toys to take to the nursery tomorrow.

I’m also waiting for a delivery of my new cordless vacuum for upstairs. I realised i’ll
keep on top of it better upstairs for daily hoovering if I don’t have to battle with a plug up there so cordless it is.

Dinner will what the kids call cheesy peasy pasta which is garlic and herb cheesy tagliatelle with peas through it. I have some chicken breasts to use as well so might make some chicken in breadcrumbs to go with it, or maybe just some garlic bread. I’ll let the kids decide.

Hope everyone has a lovely day x

Tiddlywinks63 · 04/05/2026 11:06

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, it’s a mizzly, chilly day here, not a lot happening.
I’m doing some slow stitch squares while listening to Spotify podcasts, tiddler is sound asleep after her early walk and DH is out with bigger dog.
I’ve sorted out bits for more slow stitch squares then I’m making them into a little book. It’s not for any particular purpose, just keeping me occupied while I await yet more investigations, I also enjoy doing it anyway.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 04/05/2026 11:07

Morning @lucysmam and everyone else. It’s a bit grey and dreary here today but still fairly warm. I was up early as usual, had an iced coffee with the cat (he didn’t have a coffee just a cuddle 😄) then went out and did a 5k run - got a new PB so I’m happy! Came back and had some breakfast and a quick shower, just waiting for DD to come home now then we’re heading out for a walk before our exercise class.

After class we’re going to meet my sister, BIL, niece and nephew at the village fete. Will have a late lunch there before heading home to start the usual back to work prep. Making lunches, sorting outfits, bath, hair wash, shave legs etc.

Will do some nice relaxing yoga and meditation this evening an then try to get an early-ish night.

Rainbow1235 · 04/05/2026 11:16

Morning lucysmam and to u all . Been busy doin few chores round the house and as it’s a nice here I will continue on my little rockery in the garden and will do a few more pots and then son no 2 who has autism has requested a Chinese later so as he’s such an angel what he wants he gets 😀. Have a great and safe day all 🫶

mondaytosunday · 04/05/2026 11:22

Morning (just about). Just finishing second cup of tea while watching an old Grand Designs on the iPad. Cats are mooching around the garden - needs a mow but will wait till everyone’s back at work tomorrow so as to disturb fewer people (I live in a terrace). Much cooler and cloudier today but back door is still wide open. My neighbours, who travel about two thirds of the year, have returned and I can hear their music through the walls! So odd I’m so used to them not being there. I like knowing someone is around though I often wonder why they keep the house. Neither are English and his business is based abroad and she works remotely most of the time. The house is worth well over £1m and they have no kids. We are zone 3 and if it was me I’d sell up get a nice two bed flat in zone 1 or 2. These are the thoughts that occupy my mind on a Bank holiday!
My DD is at uni working hard to get her last few essays done. My son (who lives on his own) is working today.
Last day before diet tomorrow and contemplating going to Lidls to get a few things, though I have no real need to. I see a lazy day ahead of me!

Crunchymum · 04/05/2026 11:28

Hello all,

I didn't get round to posting on yesterday's thread as we were out most of the day (went to in-laws for a roast, weather held out and we had some other relatives there so didn’t get home until 9pm!)

Today is a day of rest, although 2 out of 3 children are still at their grandparents - they had a sleep over with thier cousins who were staying. DP is working so DC1 and I are getting on with some chores. I'm batch cooking (have done a pot of tomato / pasta sauce, a chilli and about to do a paprika chicken stew we all like). This will give us a decent freezer stock / few quick meals for the week ahead.

Then I'll tackle the ironing.

DC1 is on hoovering duty. It's quite an undertaking as we have lots of stairs.

All kids need to do some homework at some point too.

We'll watch a film later, then an early night.

topcat2014 · 04/05/2026 11:28

We treated ourselves to an overnight trip to London and are currently having brunch in Coal Drop Yard

frozendaisy · 04/05/2026 11:30

Morning morning just
H had to pop out to get a spider bite looked at at the pharmacy so he is bringing back ready made brunch - he has been told to use his imagination so it’s pot luck what arrives (sure it will be fine he’s a professional capable man)

Then entice teens out of rooms with fat and sugar.

Wash up everything we own - hectic day yesterday

Cook a roast dinner

schoolwork

chilled house day after a manic social weekend

perfect it’s a bonus Sunday basically

Simonjt · 04/05/2026 11:39

Good morning, it isn’t a bank holiday here, so the kids are at school/pre-school, I’m not at work today as the office has suffered a flood, oh no, how awful…my laptop is also there so I can’t work from home, sad times…

So I’ve cut the grass, cleaned the sauna enclosure (its glass and a pain to clean), so now I’m going to reward myself by going to the gym.

Have a nice Monday.

Taytocrisps · 04/05/2026 11:51

I slept late. I spent Saturday night at A&E with my Dad (all is well), so my sleeping patterns are all messed up. I read in bed for a bit when I did wake up.

Trying to wake myself up with a coffee now. I still feel very tired.

DCat1 had a bit of a cuddle on my lap, but was evicted so I could go make coffee. He's now sitting on top of the armchair, looking out the window.

DCat2 is is in her cat house upstairs.

DD is at work.

I need to motivate myself to go do some housework and laundry etc.

Judgejudysno1fan · 04/05/2026 11:55

Morning people

Newborn girl didnt sleep good last night and im tired too!!!! Shes settled in my arms whilst I watch YouTube trying ti decide if its worth gently moving her from the sofa to the moses basket and risk her waking up !!! Or just both of us doze on the sofa.

Nothing big planned for today. A chilled day with some housework jobs for the eldest 3 kids. Food shopping should be delivered within the next hour or so. So that will need packing away. Organising school uniform for tomorrow and dinner tonight is seasoned chicken drumsticks with salad and wedges!

zingally · 04/05/2026 13:08

A lazy one here. Not going out anywhere.

Slept much better last night, after a disjointed sleep the night before. No further news on the dying uncle, so operating under the assumption that no news is good news.
No particular plans for the rest of the day.
I need to print off some bits for my tutoring business, which I'll do next. I also need to make up some sandwiches for the freezer.
Beyond that, would quite like to spend some time with my book and some nibbles at my side.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 04/05/2026 19:56

Hurrah - was hoping there would be a thread today @lucysmam although I’ve been thinking it was Sunday all day! Had a lovely trip out with DH to a local fishing village. So nice to have some quality time together. We walked around the harbour a couple of times, looked in the quirky shops/galleries & had a chippy lunch on the quay. I had sausages but wished I’d had haddock as DH gave me a bit to try & it was some of the best I’d ever had! Treated myself to a really cute pot for my plant on the kitchen windowsill. There was an antique shop with some incredibly cheap (yet nice) vintage jewellery in the window but I knew DH wouldn’t enjoy looking round plus I would need ages so I’ll pop over again soon to explore at leisure. There are some really nice tearooms there so I’ll treat myself to lunch or a cake too. It was glorious in the sunshine & the sea was such a fabulous deep blue & really clear. Now chilling with EastEnders in the background & contemplating making cheese on toast for tea. Trying not to look on Vinted!

legosnowqueen · 04/05/2026 20:13

Happy bank holiday, lovely reading about your days.

A late start this morning as DDog inexplicably woke me several times in the night.

Pleased it has stopped raining today as it’s our annual town carnival day. Watched the wonderful procession of floats put on by local schools & community groups that makes its way through the main streets to the carnival ground. Our town really gets behind it & the mood was wonderful.

Apart from that, have pottered around & cleaned as our house went on the market last week. Sadly this is because H & I are separating, I hope we get a buyer quickly but the local market isn’t great so we’ll see. Did a little bit of work to get ahead before tomorrow & made brunch for DS - he’s now out with mates.

Supper was a chicken casserole I made yesterday so nice & easy. Loving the lighter evenings but hoping for an early night tonight before work tomorrow. Will watch an episode of Hidden Assets before going to bed.

DilemmaDelilah · 04/05/2026 20:37

Hello @lucysmam and everyone! How nice to see this today! I wasn't expecting it so I didn't look for it.

We went out quite early to pick up some chinos I had ordered from Next for Mr Dilemma. They were the same size as the jeans he usually wears but didn't go anywhere NEAR doing up, so they're going back. Then we had a little mooch around T K Maxx, which is next door to Next, then a quick squizz around M&S Food Hall, which is next to T K Maxx. I needed another lettuce and a cabbage, as my food order doesn't arrive until Wednesday.

We had a few games of scrabble (I won) and then I was so tired I had to have a nap. Mr Dilemma also had a nap. I try to 'do' something every day to keep my muscles and joints going, but it does take its toll as I'm still not very strong.

This evening's meal was an Aldi readymade cottage pie with carrots for me, and an M&S chilli nacho thing for Mr Dilemma. I think he's missing proper home made meals, but it's the only way I can be sure that I'm not going over my calorie allowance as my portion control is rubbish! And at least he gets to eat all the things he likes that I don't cook because I don't like them.

I'm just eating my 'pudding' of a finely sliced apple and feeling quite virtuous 😁

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/05/2026 20:42

I’ll do a “what did I do”:

Went with DD1, DM and Sis to see Devil Wears Prada 2. I enjoyed it for its nostalgic feel.

Then lunch out with DH, DD2, DS, DF and BIL added on. Also lovely even if they did use it to sing happy birthday to me. 🙄 My birthday was last Wednesday and I am all in favour of just letting it pass me by.

This afternoon/evening, I’ve been tackling the mammoth pile of washing that’s built up and now I’m sitting with DD2 to get her to sleep. 🤞 for a speedy bedtime.

Need to FaceTime PIL after this and then maybe DH and I will watch Star Wars in honour of May 4th.
