My iphone just died as I was holding it and won't turn back on

I bought a refurbished iphone 15 pro from giffgaff a week ago. The phone itself is like new, and was working fine.

I was just listening to music on it with my airpods, phone was in my hand and I was changing to a different song and the screen went totally black and the phone turned itself off.

The battery was at 96 per cent so It didn't run out of battery, and now I can't turn it back on, Tried the button on the side and nothing at all happens, no sign of it coming back on, no apple logo, just black screen.

Plugging it in to charge also does nothing at all, No sound or life at all.

I'm going to send it back on monday but when I try to book in the return it won't let me go any further as you need to turn off 'find my' and log out of apple ID etc

Anyone any idea how I can factory reset it if it won't turn on?!

Press and release volume up, volume down then press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears. My husband’s did the same and this fixed it, been fine ever since.

Oh no! Thats a shame, you should be able to send it back for a refund under consumer rights.

Looks from google that this is a common trend with phones from gifgaf. You’ve been sold a dud

Charge it?

just a quick update.. i contacted apple who couldn't do anything over the phone either so told me to just remove the phone from my icloud account, since doing that i am able to process a return. It never did come back on.
