Eggybreadwithnuts · 02/05/2026 19:57

Moved house and a real str9ng garlic smell in freezer. Past owner left a tub of bicarb of soda in there so they knew it was smelly.

Need to prob switch off and clean it thoroughly. But with what?

Any ideas please?

Its an intergrated one and literally brand new.

I'd clean with lemon juice and dish detergent (lemon breaks down garlic smell), then put multiple bicarb boxed in to deal with any remaining smell. It'll get there eventually.

DH turned off the fridge by mistake before we went away for two weeks and even after being emptied and cleaned it still stank. I’m pretty sure I tried leaving bicarb inside. I put some open jars of ground coffee in and that sorted it. (Only works if you don’t mind the smell of ground coffee for a while, but that eventually goes.)
