Has anyone seen £2 a litre fuel yet?

I saw 1.98 today for diesel and that's the highest so far. Is it just going to keep going up?

I'm now having to question whether I actually need to go to certain places because it's just so expensive. There's a certain international supermarket I love and where some things are much cheaper but it's 40 minutes away so it just seems pointless. At least it'll keep me out of their bakery for a while, it's delicious.

2.01 for diesel, yes. Not unleaded.

Thabk god I have an EV now (with a free charger installed), £4.91 to fully charge which gives a 360 mile range

NoWordForFluffy · 02/05/2026 20:36

205.9 at one place near here. It's always dearer than everywhere else though.

ETA: for diesel.

Dh and I saw 205 when I took him to Medway hospital. Shocked me.

It’s been 1.52 here for a while now.

FeelingSadToday1 · 02/05/2026 20:45

It seems to have peaked here. It’s filled up for £1.85 at Tesco bt even the more expensive garages are still Nader £2. I almost cried filling up yesterday!

CocSoc · 02/05/2026 20:46

On the motorway surely?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/05/2026 20:49

156.9 here in the south west. Unleaded.

That's why I was asking as I haven't been on a motorway recently.

Amazed at how cheap the EV is to charge. DH is dead against them for some (long and boring) reason so maybe I need to actually look into that.

Wow that's way cheaper than I've seen here in a few weeks!

Wow, I can't believe the prices some people are paying, it's not really gone much above 151.9 here (South east). That's for petrol, not sure about diesel.

MaybeIamJustABitch · 02/05/2026 21:36

We’ve driven from the Midlands to Co Durham and back in the last couple of days. Diesel campervan, 180 miles there and then back again. Diesel price per litre ranged from 187.9 to 204.9 and this included motorway and non motorway I reckon the average was around 193.9 to 195.9 based on the number of fuel stations.

AnnaQuayRules · 02/05/2026 21:38

We drove up the M1 at Easter and saw diesel for £1.99 at a motorway service station. Told a colleague when I got back to work and he said he'd seen it at £2.01 also on a motorway, not sure which one.

mindutopia · 02/05/2026 21:56

It’s £1.83 here, A road services in Devon along a major travel route.

TheGardenPond · 02/05/2026 22:28

I paid £2.05 a litre for diesel on the motorway because I had no other choice in an unfamiliar area. It felt dystopian. Put about £12 in to get home.

We’re in Herts and it’s 152.9 at Costco for petrol. Diesel is 183.9

HarrietSchulenberg · 02/05/2026 23:48

£1.79 for diesel here, and about £1.56 for petrol. I live near one of the cheapest garages in the UK, thankfully.
