I'm crap at cleaning. Help me out!

I don't think I'm very good at cleaning. I just cleaned the bathroom there and I sprayed and wiped so it looks and smells like cleaner has been used but I just feel like I sort of move the dirt about. Should I be scrubbing?? Or is a firm wipe with a cloth enough? Are the marks on the bath water marks or am I scrubbing the enamel off? And how do you clean the loo brush???! I spray that then just jam it back into it's holder and try not to think of it til the next time

I'm in my 40s so have been cleaning things for a long time now but I don't think I'm very good at it.... .

Can anyone recommend a straightforward YouTube channel or step by step which I can follow??

Depends what products you are using, I guess? We’re in the south with heavy limescale so in the bathroom, I spray lots of Viakal in the shower after I’ve had mine, so it runs down the walls, and leave it about an hour. Then wipe and rinse. I use Dettol wipes to clean the outside of the loo. Toilet duck and scrub with brush for inside. And the only way I clean a toilet brush is to buy a new one!

I was using the ecover ones for a while but I felt they were just coloured water so now have flash ones but the smell is overpowering (maybe I spray too much?!?). Bleach for the loo after and whizz with the loo brush.

I'll maybe throw this one away and get another one, it's clearly on my mind!!

I clean the toilet brush by putting bleach down the toilet and then leaving the brush to stand in that bleach for an hour or so.

I don't think anyone would notice it was there and it would just be peed on.....!

Just giving my bathroom a wipe wouldn’t get it clean enough for me. I use some sort of bathroom spray- flash bathroom is very good- and a sponge with a green non scratch side and squirt and scrub everything, rinsing the sponge out in water as hot as I can stand it with gloves on in between scrubs. Then I rinse everything off and dry with an old towel - this helps prevent limescale. I put bleach / toilet cleaner down the toilers every night and scrub and leave overnight and flush first thing.

I work on the basis that if you are really good at something you are left to do it so I have never honed my cleaning skills. I am in my 60s and do the bare minimum - there is also DH and two adult kids at home and I made it clear many years ago that I don’t clean what I don’t use (like other people’s bedrooms and bathrooms) and there is no reason why I should be expected to clean common areas any more than anyone else in the house. I have a vested interested in becoming a better cook, I have no interest in becoming a better cleaner. If you do care then as others have said there are plenty of videos out there.

I sort of care? But then have other things I'd rather be doing. Maybe I just carry on with my half arsed approach but do it a bit more often ....

If cleaning the bathroom: spray - leave a good few minutes - hard wipe - good rinse to remove all dust and debris down plug hole

I’m like you. Half arsed and quite crap at cleaning. For the first time in my life I’ve hired professionals. I can’t believe how amazing they are. I’d hire a plumber to plumb and so I’m happy with a cleaner to clean. I literally have no idea how they are getting the house so clean. I’m paying for their skill and experience!
