What is it with delusional dictators (or wannabe dictators) and their fucking sycophants?

It's ridiculous that the wants of the few is being allowed to cause so much harm to the needs of the many.

The trial of the man accused of arson attacks on Starmer's former car & property is underway.

It seems exactly as we here suspected... Attacks commissioned by Russia, achieved by threatening the family of the attacker.

Lots of interesting detail in his testimony.

We commented at the time that there were odd "mistakes" in the attack.

One was that he attacked the former car and the former home address. It looked like the attack had been planned by someone who wasn't nearby and was working from out-of-date intelligence, rather than someone who'd noticed Starmer's presence and decided to attack that.

The other thing was the half-heartedness of the attacks. From horrific results of attacks by family abusers and gangs, we know how lethal it can be to pour petrol through a letter box or smash a window chucking a molotov cocktail inside. This person did nothing like either of those.

Of course this person is on trial for criminal acts; he could be lying. But they're pretty odd lies if so: eg that at the time of the attacks he hadn't heard of Keir Starmer but had heard of Boris Johnson.

The evidence includes Telegram messages, one from his alleged handler saying, "Look, you attacked the home of a very high-ranking person in Britain. I'll send you money, you need to leave the city." Which is consistent with the above – that he didn't know who Starmer was to decide to attack him, and that there was a person commissioning the attack who had details but out-of-date ones.

Elvira Nabiullina, the head of Russian banking, no less.

It's been said for about three years now that personnel shortages are a problem but she is the highest profile one to come out with it openly. So far like Gerasimov Putin has treated her as a solid mainstay. It's not the first time she come out with an unpopular truth, either.

There was a recent report of whispers within Russia of a potential coup. How serious this is, is not openly known. On the basis of this 'feeling' Putin is rumoured to basically be living underground in bunkers and being very careful.

It has to be said though that the oligarchs might support him because they are becoming massively richer.

It has to be said though that the oligarchs might support him because they are becoming massively richer.

@ReleaseTheDucksOfWar this must be the article:

This Is Why Putin Won’t Stop the War: Zero territory gained. 35,000 casualties in one month. But is Russia “winning?” Well, its Russian billionaires have just doubled their fortunes.
https://www.kyivpost.com/videos/75650

The video says oligarchs close to Putin made 7x more during the war that other oligarches. For example, Gennady Timchenko's wealth rose 114% ($11.3 bn - $22.4 bn) between 2022 to 2026.

That is kinda nuts. This level of wealth must be meaningless. Just know it is paid for with the blood of men, women and children. They are subject to travels bans and sanctions and cannot travel or spend freely, stuck in Russia with their wives, mistresses and children whinging at them, keeping their head down and support for the war up. The money must make up for it Hmm

Key Takeaways

  1. Russian and Ukrainian forces continued limited offensive operations throughout the theater on the final day of the May 9 to 11 ceasefire.
  2. Recent reports of Ukrainian drones operating near occupied Mariupol as part of battlefield air interdiction (BAI) efforts targeting Russian ground lines of communication (GLOCs) in occupied Donetsk Oblast and Crimea are raising significant concerns among Russian milbloggers.
  3. Russian forces recently advanced in the Pokrovsk direction.
  4. Neither Ukrainian nor Russian forces conducted long-range strikes on May 10 to 11.

North Korea has earned up to $14 billion from Russia’s war against Ukraine, according to Nikkei Asia.
According to South Korean analysts, the supply of weapons and missiles, as well as the deployment of troops, has brought the regime of Kim Jong-un revenues comparable to nearly the country’s annual GDP.
Pyongyang is estimated to have earned between $7 billion and $13.8 billion from the supply of rocket artillery and around 250 KN-23 missiles alone.
Researchers say Russia also paid about $600 million for the participation of North Korean troops. Currently, around 10,000 North Korean special forces personnel, along with a similar number of engineers and drone operators, are reportedly deployed on the front lines.
Analysts add that Kim Jong-un may soon send up to 30,000 additional troops to Russia.

🇪🇺🇺🇦 All six negotiation clusters on Ukraine’s accession to the EU could be opened as early as this summer, said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas.

Twelve days after the Ukrainian drone strike, a fire at the Perm oil pumping station has been extinguished, Radio Svoboda reported, citing satellite images.
Six fuel tanks burned down completely.
“The station’s de facto shutdown will further complicate the situation at the Perm refinery, which it supplied with crude,” journalists noted.

Russian propaganda has significantly increased its use of AI to create fake videos of flag-raising on various frontlines, the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council reports.
“Previously, the occupiers distributed short, isolated clips, but now the Kremlin has shifted to more complex AI editing. Propagandists are producing entire series of videos showing Russian tricolors supposedly raised over positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
They also use infiltration tactics — small groups conduct brief raids, raise a flag, and withdraw. The footage is then enhanced with AI to create the illusion of a ‘broad offensive’ and a ‘collapse of the front,’ which does not reflect reality.
The surge in such videos ahead of ‘Victory Day’ suggests an attempt by the Russian military command to compensate for the lack of significant territorial gains and to ‘report’ success to the Kremlin in a virtual format.”

❗️ Putin’s claims about ending the war may be a hoax, — German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said.
“Putin is trying to divert attention from his own weakness with this approach. He can hardly point to any territorial gains at the moment, and his army continues to lose parts of the occupied territories. Precisely because Putin continues to deceive and manipulate the public, our duty as Ukraine’s partner is to further strengthen it militarily,” Pistorius emphasized.
The minister also noted that if Putin truly wanted to end the war, “he could simply withdraw his troops or offer real negotiations without preconditions.”

Ukraine and Germany are already working on joint projects to produce drones with a range of up to 1,500 km, said German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
During a visit to Kyiv, Pistorius said the two countries had agreed to expand defense cooperation, particularly in the field of unmanned systems, according to Suspilne.
According to him, companies from both countries are already developing drones with varying ranges — from under 100 km to long-range systems of up to 1,500 km.
The minister noted that such technologies can effectively suppress Russian air defense.
Berlin also plans to join the Brave1 initiative and use the combat experience of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to deepen cooperation.

Introducing AI into warfare together with Palantir, one of the world’s largest defense tech companies, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced.
He met with Palantir Technologies CEO Alex Karp.
“It is symbolic that Alex was among the first CEOs of major Western tech companies to visit Kyiv after the start of the full-scale invasion — in June 2022 — and support Ukraine. Since then, our cooperation has been active.
The results of this partnership:
▫️ a system for detailed analysis of air attacks has been created;
▫️ AI solutions for processing large volumes of intelligence data have been implemented;
▫️ technologies have been integrated into the planning of deep strike operations.
A separate area is the Brave1 Dataroom, developed jointly with Palantir. This platform gives developers access to real battlefield data to train AI models. More than 100 companies are already working on over 80 models to detect and intercept air targets in complex conditions.

Ukraine and Switzerland have launched a 10–12-year strategic partnership focused on the development of AI and the digital economy, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine reported.
During a meeting between Acting Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Bornyakov and Swiss Federal Council Delegate Jacques Gerber, the parties agreed to develop joint AI products, strengthen digital independence, and enhance data protection.
Switzerland will support the scaling of Ukrainian digital reforms and join efforts to develop services for the European market.
A major technology event is planned in Switzerland in autumn 2026 to consolidate the agreements.

❗️President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked United Kingdom, Canada, and the European Union for important sanctions decisions against Russian individuals and entities involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children.

In temporarily occupied Crimea, Russian forces have begun installing nets on Project 21980 “Grachonok” patrol boats in an attempt to protect them from drones.

An American surgeon donated an operating table for scoliosis treatment to Lviv Children’s Hospital
St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital has received the Modular Table System — an innovative solution considered the gold standard in global spinal surgery.
The equipment allows doctors to adjust a patient’s position during surgery and use precise navigation, reducing the risk of complications in spinal procedures.
The table was donated by leading American surgeon Isador Lieberman of the Texas Back Institute.
In March, he worked alongside Ukrainian doctors to operate on eight children with severe spinal conditions. After completing the mission, he decided to donate the equipment to support further development of this field at the hospital.

UNITED24 Media Telegram Highlights

For the first time in almost three years, the initiative in the war appears to be shifting toward Ukraine, according to The Economist.

Over the past 30 days, Russia has lost control of 113 sq km of Ukrainian territory. After a difficult winter marked by sustained strikes on cities and energy infrastructure, Ukraine is now inflicting increasing losses on Russian forces across multiple indicators.

Russia’s expected spring offensive has failed to deliver results. In April, Russian troops recorded net territorial losses for the first time since August 2024, when Ukrainian forces entered the Kursk region.

According to analysis by the Institute for the Study of War, Ukraine’s gains have been supported by ground counterattacks, mid-range strikes, Russia’s limited access to Starlink, and restrictions on Telegram usage within Russia.

Lawrence Freedman, emeritus professor at King’s College London, described the current moment as potentially approaching a turning point. He noted that without tangible gains, Russian positions could begin to collapse in certain areas.

Russian losses remain high. In recent months, Russia has reportedly been losing around 35,000 troops per month. The ratio of killed to wounded is increasing, with about 80% of casualties attributed to FPV drones. According to Seth Jones from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the widespread use of drones has significantly complicated medical evacuations.

Russian sources also acknowledge growing challenges. Alexey Chadayev, director of a drone development center, said Russia has “lost its lead” in drone warfare over the past six months and is facing logistical difficulties near the front. Up to 90% of UAV operator teams reportedly suffer losses in the final kilometer before engagement.

Convoys have been reduced to no more than two vehicles to limit exposure to drone strikes. Both sides face similar risks, but Ukraine is increasingly using ground robotic systems to reduce personnel losses.

Freedman noted that the effective “kill zone” now extends up to 20 km on both sides of the line of battle. Beyond the front, Russia is sustaining growing losses from Ukrainian medium-range drone strikes (50–300 km), targeting depots, command points, launchers, radars, and troop concentrations.

The scale and reach of Ukrainian strikes deep inside Russia are also increasing. In March, Ukraine reportedly surpassed Russia in the number of long-range attacks. According to Jones, these operations are causing both economic damage — particularly to oil exports — and psychological pressure on the population.

Analysts say the key question is whether these setbacks indicate a weakening of Vladimir Putin’s ability to sustain the war. Much will depend on the coming months, including whether Russia can adapt to Ukraine’s advances in drone warfare or mount a new large-scale offensive.

For now, experts describe the outlook for Russia as increasingly difficult.

Ukraine is seeking to expand domestic weapons production with NATO support (www.kyivpost.com/post/75909) after Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met alliance chief Mark Rutte in Brussels.
The talks focused on boosting military manufacturing, securing additional aid, and strengthening defense cooperation ahead of the upcoming NATO summit.

Russia proposed including deported Ukrainian children in prisoner exchange (www.kyivpost.com/post/75937) lists — a move Kyiv condemned as “unacceptable.”
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Ukrainian children “will NEVER become part of any compromise,” accusing Moscow of treating abducted minors as bargaining chips in negotiations.

Ukraine is now intercepting around 90% of Russian drones (www.kyivpost.com/post/75934) and nearly 80% of cruise missiles despite Moscow intensifying its air attacks, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said.

German defense giant Rheinmetall is entering the cruise missile market (www.kyivpost.com/post/75921) with aerospace company Destinus as Europe moves to strengthen its long-range strike capabilities.

🇸🇪Two men have been detained in Sweden on suspicion of supplying equipment to the Russian military.
According to investigators, the case involves high-tech engineering equipment that the suspects may have exported in violation of EU sanctions. The detained men are citizens of Sweden and Turkey.

In 2023, aerial reconnaissance units recorded a UFO in Ukrainian airspace. The footage was later published by Defense Ministry adviser Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov.
He said that after releasing the frontline footage, he was contacted by representatives of a state institution that has been researching UFOs in Ukraine since Soviet times.
According to Flash, since the start of the full-scale war, studying UFOs has increasingly become a military matter, as such objects could potentially conceal new types of Russian weaponry. He also noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have a special document on the subject approved by the commander-in-chief.
Flash urged Ukrainians who witness UFOs and have video footage to send the materials to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Directorate.

The so-called ceasefire has ended, and Russian forces have once again launched a massive attack on Ukraine.
Overnight, Russia launched more than 200 attack drones against Ukraine and dropped more than 80 aerial bombs along the frontline, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. Here is what is known about the consequences in the regions:
🔴Kyiv. Drone debris fell onto the roof of a 16-story residential building in the Obolon district overnight. Residents managed to extinguish the fire themselves. No injuries were reported
🔴Kyiv region. Houses and a kindergarten were damaged in the Fastiv district
🔴Dnipropetrovsk region. A man was killed and a woman injured in a Russian strike in the Synelnykove district. Additional injuries were reported in Dnipro and Pavlohrad. Frozen Conflicts Addenda:

Russian peacekeepers were on the ground in Nagorno-Karabakh / Lachin Corridor. this didn't stop the conflict unfreezing, the Armenians capitulating and fleeing as refugees through Lachin. See also UN deployment in South Lebanon at the moment. When a conflict freezes and then unfreezes, the presence of monitors doesn't always mean much.

Transnistria (tangentially). The Moldovan 2026 Eurovision entry video is a peak cultural mashup, with a song that incorporates Moldovan, Spanish and English and who knows what else? I've been to Moldova, work related, and for a near landlocked country it didn't have this summer beach party vibe. Or I was clearly missing out. No Russian or Ukrainian in the lyrics... which loops back to Transnistria's supposed raison d'être in a way. Great use of folk costumes.

Russia is gradually modernizing its Tupolev Tu-160M strategic bombers, according to satellite imagery.
The Russian Telegram channel Flight Bomber published footage of an upgraded aircraft with tail number 8-04 “Deinekin.” In total, six modernized Tu-160M aircraft and three newly built Tupolev Tu-160M2 have been confirmed.
According to AviVector, of 18 aircraft, only seven are regularly used for combat missions, while the rest remain in workshops at the Kazan Aircraft Production Association.
Satellite images from March 18 confirm the modernization process, but the pace remains slow, and full-scale new production is expected to begin only in early 2026.

⚡️Weapons deliveries from the United States under the PURL program are continuing without delays, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said.
According to him, Ukraine is receiving weapons as planned.
At the same time, progress is being made in developing domestic air defense systems:
“We must become more self-sufficient in producing critically needed weapons and equipment.”

In central Kherson, Russian forces attacked a minibus with a drone, injuring six people, the city military administration reported.
The driver sustained a concussion. Two of the injured were hospitalized — a 57-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man, both diagnosed with concussions, blast injuries, and closed head trauma. Their condition is reported as moderate.

❗️A critical infrastructure facility was damaged in the Dnipropetrovsk region as a result of a Russian attack. No injuries were reported, the State Emergency Service said.
A fuel tanker and a gas station caught fire in the Kamianske district. The blaze was later extinguished by rescuers.

13-year-old Ukrainian pole vaulter Omelian Herasymchuk has set a new world record in his age category, the Ukrainian Athletics Federation reported.
At a competition in Ruse, Bulgaria, he cleared 4.40 meters — the best result ever recorded in the U13 category.
The federation noted that despite his young age, Herasymchuk has already broken world-best marks in this category several times. In December 2025, he cleared 4.10 meters, and in January 2026 — 4.22 meters.

❗️More than 70 artists have withdrawn from consideration for the Golden Lion at the 2026 Venice Biennale.
Participants from 22 national pavilions officially pulled out in an act of solidarity with the international jury, which resigned in full on April 30. The move followed disagreements over the participation of countries whose leaders are accused by the International Criminal Court of crimes against humanity, including Russia and Israel.
After the jury stepped down, organizers decided to select the winner by public vote.
“The jury acted as any conscientious person would. I would rather support them than hope for any award,” Indian photographer Sohrab Khoora told The Art Newspaper.
The biennale organizers said they would take this position into account and would not award the prize to the signatories, even if they were to win.

Ukrainian polar explorers have spotted a rare cream-colored fur seal in Antarctica.
Such animals occur in less than 1% of the population. The unusual coloration is caused by leukism — a rare loss of pigmentation in fur and skin.
Although this makes the seal more visible to predators, scientists say these animals can successfully survive in the wild and reproduce.

On the evening of May 12, Russian forces attacked Kryvyi Rih, killing two people and injuring four others, including a 9-month-old child.
The child reportedly suffered a traumatic amputation of a limb.

Kyiv Post Telegram Highlights

Putin claims Russia successfully tested its Sarmat “doomsday” missile (www.kyivpost.com/post/75999) after years of failed launches, explosions and delays.
The nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile has repeatedly faced setbacks despite Kremlin boasts about its power.

Zelensky has announced plans for a new “anti-ballistic coalition (www.kyivpost.com/post/75986)” with Ukraine’s allies focused on developing missile defense capabilities in Europe.
Representatives from 13 countries and NATO took part in the talks.

President Zelensky has arrived in Romania to take part in the Bucharest Nine summit.
A series of key meetings focused on strengthening security and securing additional resources for Ukraine’s defense are expected on the sidelines of the summit.
Zelensky also said Ukraine plans to expand the Drone Deals format.

The EBRD is rolling out a first-of-its-kind debt relief tool with Ukraine’s 2 largest banks (www.kyivpost.com/post/75959), offering partial loan forgiveness to businesses and households whose assets are destroyed in the war — plugging a gap that standard insurance has failed to fill.

Huge fires erupted at Russian energy facilities in Astrakhan (www.kyivpost.com/post/76008), Bashkortostan and Krasnodar after a massive overnight drone blitz involving nearly 300 UAVs.
Russian officials claimed most of the drones were shot down, but explosions, injuries and damage were reported at major gas and oil infrastructure sites across several regions.

Russian forces have begun deliberately targeting American businesses in Ukraine.
Since last year, facilities linked to Cargill, Coca-Cola, Boeing, Mondelez International and Philip Morris International have come under attack. In April, seven Russian drones struck a Cargill grain terminal in southern Ukraine.
Ukrainian and American business leaders believe Moscow is trying to scare off investors and sabotage economic cooperation between Kyiv and Washington, while the Trump administration has remained largely silent.

Ukraine’s Security Service has detained a deserter in Kyiv accused of helping Russian intelligence (https://www.kyivpost.com/post/76023) secretly register Starlink terminals for military use.
Investigators say the suspect recruited accomplices, used stolen personal data and planned to expand the network before authorities blocked the terminals and charged him with high treason under martial law.

Ukrainian military tech advisor Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov shared drone footage of a mysterious UFO (www.kyivpost.com/post/75962)-like object spotted during combat operations in May 2025.
The spherical object with six pointed cones and a heat plume hovered at around 800 meters without reacting to the drone, resembling the star-shaped UFO reportedly seen by US forces in 2013.

Police in Ukraine’s Kirovohrad region are investigating a shooting inside the Svitlovodsk (www.kyivpost.com/post/75981) City Council building that injured two people.
Authorities say a city official opened fire during a dispute and has been detained. The case is being treated as hooliganism involving a weapon, with a prison sentence of up to seven years.

Ivan Marchuk, Ukraine’s only artist listed among The Daily Telegraph’s “100 Living Geniuses,” turns 90.
A People’s Artist of Ukraine who survived KGB persecution before gaining worldwide recognition, Marchuk created his own signature style — “pliontanism” — shaped by nearly a century of life and struggle.
Working 365 days a year, he says art is not a profession but his very existence.

🇮🇳India has refused to purchase Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) that is under U.S. sanctions, despite facing its own fuel shortages, Reuters reports, citing two informed sources.
According to the sources, the tanker Kunpeng carrying Russian LNG departed for western India in mid-April. However, the vessel is currently located near Singapore, and its destination is unknown.
The gas was loaded at Gazprom LNG Portovaya terminal in the Baltic Sea, which is under U.S. sanctions.
Indian authorities reportedly informed Russian Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin of the decision not to purchase sanctioned Russian LNG during his visit to the country on April 30. Reuters sources say Sorokin plans to travel to India again in June for another round of talks.
At the same time, India remains willing to buy Russian gas that is not subject to sanctions. The country is facing a significant fuel shortage due to the war in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

🇺🇸🇺🇦The Pentagon has sent its military personnel to Ukraine to study the use of drones in warfare, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said.
“I personally approved sending additional personnel there to study this drone battlefield, both in offensive and defensive aspects, so that we can learn every possible lesson from this conflict,” he said.

Russia launched 139 drones against Ukraine overnight. Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 111 of them.
Another 20 attack UAVs struck targets in 13 locations, while drone debris fell in four other areas. Here is what is known about the consequences in the regions:
🔴Dnipropetrovsk region. Russian forces attacked the region nearly 30 times. The Nikopol and Synelnykove districts, as well as Kryvyi Rih, came under fire. Eight people were killed and 11 others were injured.
🔴Poltava region. Russian drones struck an electrical substation, leaving more than 6,500 people without power. Residential buildings were also damaged.
🔴Kharkiv. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, drone debris fell onto a road. In the Kholodnohirskyi district, a fire broke out after a strike on infrastructure facilities.
🔴Odesa region. Russia launched a massive attack on industrial infrastructure, damaging warehouse and utility buildings and causing fires. No casualties were reported.

From an article in Finnish news, about the memories of former President Halonen https://yle.fi/a/74-20225498
Talking to Iltalehti, former president Tarja Halonen reflects on her first encounter with Vladimir Putin* in the year 2000, a few months after she took office.
In the Finnish presidential elections that year, the issue of regaining Karelia from Russia had resurfaced. At the time, some people believed that relations with Russia were good enough that Finland ought to ask for Karelia back, Halonen told IL.
But at the meeting, Halonen said she avoided raising the question of Karelia. Instead, it was Putin who brought it up, the only moment in the meeting that genuinely surprised her, according to IL.
Putin, she recalls, acknowledged that Finland's territorial losses had been a mistake on the part of Joseph Stalin, with a memo from the meeting citing Putin as saying, "the Soviet Union then, and Russia today, is large. It neither needed nor needs more territory."*

Hah, he's changed his mind a bit since then!!

Tuesday's papers: Stalin's mistake, Nordic power, and mortgage pressure

Tarja Halonen said that Vladimir Putin surprised her during their first meeting as presidents.

On oligarchs, I suggest that both within a society and globally most are driven to outdo their peers. They are on a level with few others. They can't really do much more with the more they seek, but can jostle for position against their rivals.

Exceptions: Soros and Gates? They are not perfect people but have decided to use their wealth for what they perceive as betterment.

The 2021 Anti-Oligarch Law in Ukraine both defines and restricts their activities. You need to score at least 3 out of 4 on specific criteria: media ownership, monopoly ownership, worth $80m+, politically engaged.

Poroshenko certainly fits my definition of an oligarch. I think he more or less did his best as President, though he attached himself to the Maydan Revolution only at the end and his ascent to Presidential power was on its coat tails.

Others found themselves in either ambiguous or oppositional positions. Akhmetov has been the richest: Tatar from Donetsk, most business interests in the occupied areas, has given aid to Ukrainian military, was in Rada for Party of regions, which he says he regrets, owns Shakhtar Donetsk, has diversified and internationalised business activities.

Kolomoyskyi has seen Zelenskyy nationalising his holdings, stripping him of citizenship and so on. Kolomoyskyi had already decided he would rather be an Israeli oligarch.

Before the current phase of the conflict with Russia, oligarchs wielded vast and open economic and political patronage and were often looked up to as something to aspire to by many. The catch was you needed to be in the right place at the right time as the Soviet Union wound up, because most of not all owe their status to the windfall nature of the times for the fortunate few.

I just don't understand them. What's the point in increasing your wealth so much when there's not much you can spend it on? I suppose it's a kind of addiction, to gathering wealth.

If you had $1bn you could be spending $1m every fortnight and still be making enough interest to be growing your fortune.

It does seem to be addictive. Billionaires are a scourge on society.

After the 5th super yacht, it’s got to be more than the actual cash. They’re fuelled by a desire to control and dominate, I’d guess. People , politics, markets. Which, with all that cash, they can.

while the Trump administration has remained largely silent.

That seems suspicious. Wouldn’t he normally be outraged about attacks on American owned assets? Would he been briefed in advance?

I suspect it will depend on if those particular companies are on his shit list or not. How much they've flattered him, if they're annoyed him.

It might (if the truth could ever be known) be interesting to see a list of the US businesses in Ukraine, the list of companies that Trump favours/dislikes, the list of companies Russia has hit and see if and where the overlaps are.
