BLW - uncut TT and high palate - food issues

GBMummy2020 · Today 12:13

Hi there, long time no posts for me.

I have a 7.5 month DS whom has a partial tongue tie that was not cut (it was noted at 4.5 months and left due to his age and he hasalways gained weight 🐷)

During the TT assessment it was noted he has a high palate too. Despite trying to correct his feeding position (EBF) he just had a way he preferred and we stuck to it due to pain free for me.

However since starting baby led weaning, we've noticed he gets food (mainly bread, toast) stuck on the roof of his mouth and he cannot thrust his tongue out to remove unwanted food.

How can I fix this (without TT cut) and has anyone experienced similar with their little ones and seen improvements? TIA x

We had this issue with tongue-tied and DD had it cut under general anaestatic when she was 9 months.

We had to go private as the NHs suggested spoon feeding and waiting until DD was 12 months but she was reluctant to eat from a spoon as well unless it was porridge or yoghurt.

Just after the OP she started eating with gusto and we never looked back.
