The Other day I noticed a really handsome guy in my Facebook suggestions. I rarely even use Facebook but he was genuinely really good looking. Is it weird to send a friend request. I get a few random an adding me that ive never seen as a female. I just don’t know whether it’s weird for me to add someone on fb purely on the basis that they’re really hot🤣

I think it's weird to add anyone you don't actually know, yes.

Steelworks · 27/04/2026 04:05

Yes, weird, especially if you don’t know him.

I rarely use Facebook, but I also get really random friend suggestions. I get that I might know people that the other person knows, but often the suggestions have no connection to me at all. I guess it's just Facebook trying to expand its market somehow.

It's so full of adverts these days, it's nigh on impossible to use.

Yes it's weird and what's to say he'll accept the request?

Could also be a bit dodgy if you have no friends in common. I’m middle aged and overweight and I’ve had a few very good looking men add me, they are normally “widowed” often ex military or in the fire service type jobs. I always decline obviously as I’m guessing it’s some kind of romance scam !

Yep. Me too.
Classic romance scammer types.

I'd suspect that he's not even real, more a visual click bait, going by the trash that FB is now.

Friend him and you'll be 'helping him out' with business ideas or financial emergencies before you know it.

How is it likely to be a romance scam if she's the one sending a friend request?

I've lost count of the times a "handsome, widowed, Christian American man in the military" or similar has appeared in my friend suggestions.

It must be some algorithm that picks up that I'm a woman of a certain age.

Best advice is don't ever send or accept friend requests from people you don't know- why would you?

neilshair · 27/04/2026 08:31

Do you accept requests form these random men?

G5000 · 27/04/2026 08:32

yes weird and it's probably a romance scammer.
