Have you ever instantly recognised someone you had never met before?

I was much younger and temping at an office block in London. I was sent with a message for X, who, it turned out, had moved offices. I was told this by Y who had moved into to X's office.

But I recognised Y, for want of a better word. Not his face or his voice - just him. We ended up talking for about twenty minutes before I took off. The next day I had to ring a member of staff, and for some bizarre reason it went through to Y's phone. We laughed and chatted, then ended the call.

Before I left I emailed him suggesting a drink. It was short and sweet, I didn't say anything else. He replied that he couldn't because he had a girlfriend and said - "but I felt it too".

I've never forgotten him.

A couple of years later l was at work when a man I had never met before walked in and starting talking to me. And again, I recognised him though I had never met him. I knew I was going to marry him. And I did, 25 years ago.

Had anyone else had this happen?

Yes , similar to you.
I worked at a stables for many years and we used to get occasional 'guest' horses staying . Usually if there was a local show owners would come the day before the show and stable their horses overnight.

I rarely delt with them as I'd be busy dealing with the yard owners horses but on one occasion I was asked to greet , stable , settle and get any information/ instructions from a visitor.
As soonas I met him I felt like I knew him do asked if he shows / lives local
Nope he'd only just moved to the area from along way down south.
We sorted his horse out and went our separate ways .
The following day at the show I saw him a few times but we didn't really have time to talk , but after the show we had loaded up and was ready to leave when he approached saying his box had broke down so we loaded his horse in ours and went back yo our stables where he stayed overnight again ( unplanned he intended to go home )
It was two days before his box was repaired and in the mean time we got to know each other better but both had the feeling that we already knew each other .
He decided to keep his horse at our yard .
We dated for about 6 months but we really just didn't have time to commit properly to each other .
We remained good friends gor many years though.

Not a romantic thing.... but at the weekend DH and I went to an all day thing and got chatting to a very charming and interesting man I'm absolutely SURE I've met before. However I found out enough about his background to think it is extremely unlikely our paths would ever have crossed. Very strange!
