Had a swim in the sea and met some lovely mums with their toddlers digging sandcastles and their babies

Our kids are well into their 20s but it was so lovely to see young families having a good time - makes you realise what a difference it is to have the sun out!

No controversial post just wanted to comment on how wonderful it is to have a day out by the coast 😂

(we were at Avon beach so if you were there today you may have said hello to me - I was the mad older woman swimming in the sea!)

How lovely.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 25/04/2026 14:47

There's nothing like the seaside❤️

EmeraldRoulette · 25/04/2026 14:49

Yay! I'm heading to Northern beaches if we get a heat wave.

tbh the reason I love them so much is because I don't see so many people there. Brilliant.

Sounds like a lovely day.

I lived in Cornwall until I was 12, and now live in the west midlands about as far as you can get from a beach in this country! I miss it so much.

I hope you all enjoy your day’s out!

Edited

I know what you mean! At least it’s free apart from the petrol to get there and the obligatory ice cream!

I am a firm believer that a beach is good for the soul

I obviously posted on wrong thread, I’ve reported it!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 25/04/2026 19:08

Is it not too cold for the beach, op? I wanted to take my dd but its only 12 degrees, despite being 21 in london 👀👀

It's never really too cold for the beach. We live 200m from the beach and walk there most days. Always took the kids in winter as well. They always had fun no matter what the temperature was.

Moveyourbleedingarse · 25/04/2026 19:44

It was 23 degrees where I am today. I'd have loved to go to the beach!

hahabahbag · 25/04/2026 19:45

There were kids rock pooling here, not really safe for swimming, lovely to see

Favouritefruits · 25/04/2026 19:53

i Love beach days and we only live metres away from the beach but that TV drama ‘Dirty Business’ has really put me off! They sewage dumped only last week in the sea near me! Why do big companies ruin everything!

Oh my dd is autistic - I think she'd be confused as to why she cant swim in the sea in her swimming costume!

My friend and I walked to our local beach this morning as usual we were the only ones on it and we had a stunning view out to see with the sun reflecting off the water it was sparking. The tide was going out we have a huge tide here and there were lots of wading birds on the exposed sand it was just perfect. Everyday I think how lucky I am to live within walking distance of a rugged unspoilt virtually empty coastline. It’s beautiful all the year round but particularly on a lovely spring day like today after a long dark and very wet winter.
