Spotted on a path near a beach. Any ideas?

(pic presumably pending).

Looks like a kind of en caul birth, maybe a bird or an otter

Edit- Google lense says it’s a species of giant sea slug known as Black Sea hare.

weareallqueens · 24/04/2026 21:40

Aye, this is what Google said for me, but it doesn’t look like the other pics of sea hares… plus while it was a coastal path, it was quite a distance from the actual sea.

Possibly wrong as I can't guage the size but I think it's a infant walrus or possibly sea lion/seal

Isn’t nature beautiful? 😁

Too late to edit, please ignore the above, I have researched this some more and I am now certain it is not a walrus (I was confusing it with something else)

Sea Slug? How big is it? Looks like the size of a rabbit in the image.

weareallqueens · 24/04/2026 22:08

Yes, roughly the size of a rabbit.

Blimey. They do say there are likely all sorts of creatures in the sea not even discovered yet, or at least not in the general public awareness.

Keepingthingsinteresting · 24/04/2026 22:17

I would have said sea hare too, they look very different when in the water. That would be a big one though. On the distance it could have easily been dropped by a bird that had picked it up.

Infant duck billed platypus

USaYwHatNow · 24/04/2026 22:20

At first glance I thought it was a cookie cutter shark!!

Distant cousin of ET?

weareallqueens · 24/04/2026 22:28

ShakyBake · 24/04/2026 22:19

Probably. Especially if there’s a few of them washing up.
