Anyone running, or supporting someone who is running? My DH is running and I’m so excited for him.

I will also be so glad when it’s over and I’m no longer woken at 4am, no more talk of energy gels and bibs and weird running shoes that look like lifeboats…

Did he enter through the public ballot?

Yes, he got a place without the need to get sponsorship this year

We’ve entered via the public ballot but were told ballot results will be announced by early July, we haven’t heard yet so hopefully it won’t be too long.

No, but I respect the non-running partners of marathon runners! My DH and I are both marathon and ultra runners. I’m currently (very) injured and in plaster. My DH is training for a marathon that’s happening in a few weeks and TBH it’s a pain in the arse. He’s never here (I’m usually out there with him), his weekend alarms are annoying, and I’m bored (probably because I can’t do much else). Hats off to all of the running widows/widowers who tolerate it all the time

I entered the ballot 98/99/00 and got in twice. I think it is much harder now.

My son in law is running for a children%’s charity.

What's he doing at 4am that's keeping you up?

Anyone running the London Marathon on Sunday, I hope you enjoy yourselves and achieve your goals.

TheChosenTwo · 22/04/2026 21:59

I’m not and training for it a few years ago ended my running!
Still absolutely love going and supporting though, won’t be there this year but will watch on the telly.
Dh has more chance of being struck by lighting 3 times than running a marathon!

Eh? Race is on Sunday. The public ballot for 2027 hasn’t even opened yet

I’ve run one marathon and would LOVE to do London, but I fail miserably in the ballot every year

good luck to all those running. And well done to all those that ran in Manchester last Sunday. I went to watch and it was inspiring.

PoisedMintBird · 23/04/2026 05:50

I’m not running it this year, I did my marathon 2 weeks ago in Milan as much easier to get in to!
I’ve been fortunate to do London 6 times though, it is fantastic.
Good luck to your husband but don’t be suprised if it’s not all over, I was doing one marathon ten years ago after getting a place for London, now I’ve done 20 😂
