Heinz spaghetti

Oh the 😲 😱. Does anyone actually eat this? I have never had it since I was a wean (child to non Scottish). I do like the ravioli, but only if I have a wee craving for it back and forth. My 14 year old lad asked me for spaghetti hoops the other day and it reminded me of spaghetti hoop toasties back in the 80s..wonder if that tastes as good? 🤔

Had a bit of a notion for toast and spaghetti..it was so sweet! Never again.

Jewelanemone · 21/04/2026 21:18

I've always wondered why the tomato sauce with hoops tastes different to the sauce with baked beans......

Arlanymor · 21/04/2026 21:18

Spaghetti hoop toasties and old Lucozade when I was unwell (glass bottle and orange foil!) The best medicine ever! Saw me through measles, chicken pox, mumps and whooping cough!

Is it that bad? Even with a wee bit cheese and black pepper? 😆

I liked it as a kid. Tried it again recently and it was vile. Sweet and tasteless.

That is a good question...I now wonder that too, 🤔. Maybe thats the reason half the weans from the 80s were wild? Happed up in suger 😆 🤣

Did they not make a spaghetti hoop and sausage version too?

I preferred the long spaghetti to the hoops as the sauce tasted different. Just that little bit nicer/less sweet. Probably my imagination though.

I'm non Scottish - so don't understand if the term 'wee craving' is some sort of medical issue, a fetish or something else.

SwedishEdith · 21/04/2026 21:50

I loved Imps. Got a hankering for Heinz Spaghetti Bolognese again during lockdown. It is so satisfying.

£8 for a mag for a bairn🤯
My Beano or dandy would've been 5p.😁
The gist of the tradition is still there.

Mochudubh · 21/04/2026 21:54

I have the wee tins of spag hoops and sausages in the cupboard right now. I think I got them in B&M in a 3 pack. They do the wee tins of beans and sausages too. Just enough to put on buttered toast, topped, as OP said with cheese.

On toast. I'll only bought it a few times - I didn't get addicted or anything 😄. I confess that when my eldest was a young child and I wanted to make a quick tea, I'd stick a thawed out cube of spinach (to ease the guilt) into a half tin of spaghetti and serve her that on toast. She ate it 😄

ruethewhirl · 21/04/2026 21:57

I love it! Especially with cheese grated into it and bread and butter (has to be butter, not margarine) to dip into the sauce. Not the hoops, they definitely taste different as a pp said.

I could just eat some now that I've started thinking about it, actually. 😄

I’ve a tin in the cupboard now. They come in handy for a quick lunch.

Flannelfeet · 21/04/2026 22:02

Right, now im thinking of the wee alphabet spaghetti and peppa pigs, bob the builders and all the wee shapes...on toast, with a sprinkle of cheese and black pepper 🤣😋

I love the sausages in the tins of beans. I know they're made from lips and arseholes but I don't care. I'm also a fan of Richmond sausages in sliced white bread. I'm a true gourmand.
