Hotel room issues what’s reasonable?

we stayed at a very nice hotel for one night and it hotel and it was around £300. European capital city, nice room.

The shower was all glass and the top hinge of the door was broken and the glass was slipping out of the hinge so it was tipping towards the floor and couldnt be opened or closed fully- just enough to get in the shower. Then the shower didn’t drain and flooded the floor I was worried the glass would slip. I did think it looked like it had some temporary repair already.

so DH got straight in the shower when we arrived as they let us in the room at 9 am as we just landed from USA. He didn’t tell me there as this issue but he said it was like that and is not caused it

the hotel said they can’t fix it as not maintenance but will clean the floor, try and make it a bit better and replace the towels.

Is this ok? What would you expect?

I’d expect to be moved to a new equivalent room, and perhaps a gesture of some sort - fruit basket kind of thing

if the hotel is full, I’d expect them to make the shower safe and useable as possible and maybe enhance the gesture

hope it doesn’t impact your holiday too much

Agree with @AbzMoz

"He didn’t tell me there as this issue but he said it was like that and is not caused it" I don't understand what this means?

Anyway, it's a bit shit but tbh for the sake of 1 night I don't know if I could be bothered to move once I'd already unpacked. Realistically how many showers were you going to be having over a one night stay?

I'm surprised they let you in the room so early as well.

If staying more than one night I'd absolutely insist on being moved though.

Sorry typos making it incomprehensible

DH didn’t tell me there was an issue when he got the first shower. I would have noticed and asked to moved. He said it was like that and I hadn’t caused it.
I’m kind on the fence. It was very annoying rather than unusable. I had two long hot showers and used all the gorgeous shower stuff!

TBH - they were l really good at getting us the room 6 hours early so on balance of service and not being arsed to moved for one night. A glass of Prosecco or so with would have been nice though! they are also lovely.
