How do I make DD’s nap work around a social event?

We’ve been invited to a christening tomorrow which is at 1pm.

DD has one daily nap, which starts around 12pm.

I am not sure about the logistics. All I can think of so far is that we set off early, walk around in the pram until she nods off, and then take the pram into church and hope for the best?

But if she does wake up, she’ll be hungry for lunch…

WWYD?!

Honestly sounds like you've nailed the best plan. Make sure you've got some favoured snacks to give her when she wakes up and hopefully she'll just roll with it.

I'd do just that, walk in pram and hope they fall asleep. If they wake up in the church and get upset then just nip outside. Have something easy for lunch or something snacks to tide them over until the end of the service. A snack would always keep mine quiet!

You sit near the door so you can take her out xx

Probably will fall asleep in car. Will she transfer to pram? And stay asleep
Otherwise I'd plan to sit in car for a bit. Leaving enough time in case she wakes grumpy.

If I know mine definitely need to sleep between specific times I always use the car for a nap, even if it means endlessly driving for a while.

However if you know DD will definitely sleep in the pram then go with your initial plan.

She is more likely to fall asleep walking in the pram than the car - the other week we went on a 90 min drive at nap time - perfectly timed so she’d nod off - and she didn’t sleep a wink!

Walk around in pram. Take pack up lunch and feed in church if needed.

Well, it all went wrong 🙈

DD went down for her nap at 11am, unusual but it would have worked out okay, waking around 12:30 in time for us to head out.

Unfortunately, when she woke up from it, she was violently sick as DH was getting her dressed! A very upset little baby, now asleep again on DH 😔

Poor baby! Some things you just can't plan for with kids. Hope she's feeling better today.
