How long does it take for periods to settle down on the mini pill?

GP started me on the mini pill in January for hormonal migraines that were getting worse. My cycle has always been as regular as clockwork, with no issues apart from migraines at the beginning or end of my period. Since starting on the pill my cycle is irregular and periods are lasting over 10 days. Still getting headaches. How much longer to I give it before reviewing it?

Mine were normal from the start, but if you’re getting hormonal migraines, my guess would be there may be more going on behind the scenes so your hormones are maybe a bit more all over the place. If it’s not helping the migraines though, I’d be inclined to try something else.

I bled constantly and gave up after 3 months

I was put on this pill around 8 years ago after experiencing migraines on the combined pill. Mine periods stopped entirely and I haven’t had one for nearly 8 years

It’s helped the headaches a bit. But still needing sumatriptan more than I would like.

I was on mini pill for years. Either regular periods or none. Post partum and bleeding is all over the show. Been advised can take 6 months to settle however they did give me a different brand to try upon my request and I don't feel it's been just as bad.

Worth noting there are different brands of mini pill as well as different types ie desogestrel.
