I am gobsmacked. A bathroom on the landing? Who on Earth thought that was a good idea?

FruityFrog · 16/04/2026 22:06

I think this is actually a really good use of space! It's just like an ensuite! There is also a loo in the next room for private poos.

Halfblindbunny · 16/04/2026 22:07

I can't work out where it is? Is it somehow private to the top floor bedroom? Or actually in a thoroughfare?

ChopstickNovice · 16/04/2026 22:08

I have looked at the floorplan and I don't understand it either!

ChaliceinWonderland · 16/04/2026 22:09

Apart from the f off weird bog situation, christ it's cheap up north!! That would be triple the price in my area...

Nobodysaiditwouldbeeasy88 · 16/04/2026 22:12

Have a look at the virtual tour. It’s on the landing before the attic bedroom

sittingonabeach · 16/04/2026 22:12

An open bathroom/toilet is one of my nightmares!

sittingonabeach · 16/04/2026 22:13

I assume it is a sort of ensuite to the upstairs bedroom

DamnBuster · 16/04/2026 22:13

Just what I always wanted - a carpeted bog at the foot of the stairs!

CmonBobby · 16/04/2026 22:14

Think it’s ok…. The stairs go up to a single bedroom so it’s like a downstairs en-suite. It’s closed off to the rest of the first floor I think from floor plan?

WonderfulSmith · 16/04/2026 22:16

Looking at the floor plan the bathroom seems to be just on the first floor landing where you would need to go through to get to the bedrooms. Had it been at the bottom of the stairs to the attic conversion then it would make some kind of sense.

liveforsummer · 16/04/2026 22:22

The bath under the stairs! How random 😆

That's what I thought. I quite like it. Kind of quirky

OotontheRandan · 16/04/2026 22:24

I often have stressful dreams about having to have a bath or use the toilet in these sort of arrangements. Open to all. Windows for people to see in. Stairs for people to use and watch... nope. Nope nope.

Jemminy · 16/04/2026 22:27

Pleasingly surreal but the more I think about it the less weird it is! Treat it as an ensuite for upstairs or just get rid and use the other bathroom. No one's weeing in public, it's a functional, private bathroom with a kind of attic extension. Maybe they'll start a trend!

Halfblindbunny · 16/04/2026 22:27

Ok so I've done the virtual tour and whilst it's not completely conventional it's not as odd as it first seems. It's basically a little self contained bedroom with bathroom it's just a bit upside down with the bathroom being the first room and going up some stairs to the bedroom. My main issue is the carpet in the bathroom and the unobscured window but they are easily fixed.

It's handy as well as during the day when no one is using the bedroom it gives everyone in the house another bathroom to use.

I'm not sure I would have it like that but I can see what they were thinking.

WonderingWanda · 16/04/2026 22:27

This is crazy, if you are going to trudge downstairs from an attic room to go to the loo you could just go next door to the actual bathroom.

Fizbosshoes · 16/04/2026 22:34

I saw on rm a student house that appeared to have the front door going into the bathroom (with toilet in it)
Student houses are generally quite grim but this took it to a whole new level!

I don't know I wouldn't mind trudging downstairs in the morning to my nice clean and available bathroom and not have to hope that none of my children are currently doing God knows what in there and making me late for work.

flagpolesitta · 16/04/2026 22:39

Why are there yellow caution hot water stickers by all the taps as well

Looks like it's been an Airbnb judging by the fire extinguishers etc in the kitchen.

PrivateCry · 16/04/2026 22:40

Batshit crazy because it’s so easily fixed by turning the stairs and then putting the bath under the window. This is just blowing my mind!

ChateauMargaux · 16/04/2026 22:41

I can imagine the conversation...

How can we get a loft room without losing the bathroom?

I know, we can leave the bathroom where it is and put the stairs over the bath. I've checked the building regulations and there's nothing to say you need to be able to sit up in both ends of the bath!

Genius, I don't know why more people don't do this. This way we get a master suite and don't have to move all of the plumbing to the second floor.

PermanentlyExhaustedOwl · 16/04/2026 22:54

Ah I thought it was in the hall hence running in the door and it being very handy! Still think it's mad though not being a proper room 😂

@Halfblindbunny but surely the downstairs goes straight into that bathroom. ?
