as the title says

I have always hated how I look, my body, figure, face, hair - everything about me really.

I feel worthless and a rubbish crappy interview for a job I really wanted was the final straw tbh.

i am just a waste of space.

You are not a waste of space. Op there’s so many things you can do to make you look better if you feel you need to, but start with sleep, fresh air, a nice shower, talking to someone you know you makes you laugh/ sitting down with a comedy book/ film x

ohyesido · 16/04/2026 15:28

No you’re not. Break it down a bit.

a crappy job interview- happens to us all. What went wrong?

what is so wrong with your hair?

AnonymousLibrarian · 16/04/2026 15:31

You are not worthless. You sound very down, I'm really sorry. I'd get some support from the doctor. Check your vitamin D too. I used to often find I was really down at the end of the winter, low vitamin D, been indoors too much etc.
Get down your local library they may have CV / interview support. Join their book group so that you can chat to other people (people who like books tend to be better caring people from my experience 😁). If you can walk to the library even better as you'll be outside in the sunshine.
This is a start towards feeling a little better and smiling again and planning your next step. Ask for help, we've all been there and felt rubbish at some point in our lives. Best of luck, remember this is just how you feel now and things will improve if you take some steps towards support.

No you aren't worthless OP.

Your problem is you lack self confidence.

There is nothing wrong with you. You obviously were good enough to get the job interview in the first place weren't you?

Please be kind to yourself.

YellowHatt · 16/04/2026 15:46

You got an interview! In this job market that’s a huge achievement. Huge.

Let yourself feel shit about not getting the job. Then brush yourself off and hold your head up high, because you should be proud of yourself.

Theseventhmagpie · 16/04/2026 17:05

You are your own worst critic. I bet people who know you don’t think this way about you. As a previous poster said you got an interview and in this climate that’s really, really good!
Deep breath- onwards and upwards.
Sending a hug and a wish that you will be kinder to yourself and that you have some good luck in the near future.💐

tiredandwrungout · 16/04/2026 17:06

Not getting a job always makes me feel like absolute utter shit for at least 24 hours and then I feel able to lick my wounds and move on Flowers

Friendlygingercat · 16/04/2026 17:38

You are not a waste of space. You should see my passport photo! I could probably get a job in Hammer films. We all feel like that from time to time.

Openthecurtainsforgsake · 16/04/2026 17:43

Who were these people OP?

We’ve all had (well maybe I should speak for myself) cringe-worthy interviews. I remember one years later and whilst I didn’t come across very well, I now realise that the guy was an absolute prick.
