Wow I love it, I know she's talking about banning social media for under 16, personally I'd agree with this

But I couldn't stop looking at her lovely hair

Yes shes right of course. Dont really have a view on her hair as such.

LisaVanderpumpy · 15/04/2026 20:13

I wonder if the government will ban it ?

and I wonder if that will be enforceable ?

what does worry me tho is this generation growing up now, say I’ve got friends with toddlers 2, that allow then to go on iPads at 630 am as they don’t wanna get up
so of course they start the addiction early
so my concern is when these children are grown up
how the hell are they going to parent their own children as to them it’s totally normal to be on screens 24/7

no one really talks about this

and how much times parents spend glued to the screens
in the park with the kids— eyes glued

kid comes out of school — parents eyes glued to screen barely even looks up to acknowledge child

imagine a whole another generation time

Research in Australia shows most kids have found a way round the ban.

That's not what I've heard. Source please?

Fupoffyagrasshole · 15/04/2026 20:17

like I agree in theory - but they bring in healthy eating things in schools, things like sugar tax etc - it makes no difference

some parents are gonna feed their kids shite, some parents will let their kids have loads of sugar,

under 16s ban on social media likely won’t stop them getting around it

and it won’t do a thing about kids watching things on iPads!!

It was an Austrialian children’s charity whose name I didn’t recognise. It was on the BBC news.

The same thing will happen in the UK.

There are far more savvy teenagers coming up with ways to work around the ban than adults employed to maintain it.

It's performative at best.

Agree. I think it’s a knee jerk reaction to ban it personally. I’m inclined to agree with the Molly Rose foundation that the social media platforms need to take responsibility rather than an outright ban.

PearlsTeapot · 15/04/2026 20:54

I think her hair looks amazing, and it suits her.

Absolutely.

It's far easier to say "But the ban" when the next tragedy happens than to go after the platforms.

I'm not sure they are finding ways round it as such, the problem is that the age verification methods being used aren't foolproof so make for girls for example rather than anything technical

TofuTuesday · 15/04/2026 21:03

I don’t love her hair, it looks a bit odd with the blonde and then the grey ends. Reverse grow out!

Yes thats a much better idea, maybe the government should try making the platforms take much more responsibility

And absolve parents of any responsibility.

Parents are just as bad. I was in Costa Coffee the other day having some lunch, there was a dad in there with his toddler in a push chair. The dad gave the little one some crisps and they sat there for 45 minutes. The dad spent the whole time on his phone and didn't say a single word to the child.

It's no wonder kids are starting school with so many issues when their parents prefer interacting with their phones over interacting with them.

Love Jo's hair.

Are we talking about her view of social media use or her grey hair. I’m confused what this thread is about?

Totally agree, I feel for reception teachers and tas
And preschools and nursery's

I bet staff that have done that for many years could tell a few interesting insights into how much has changed

Think we can handle talking about both

Yes, will lead to alot of well that child shouldn't have been on there anyway
It actually could make things worse
