ND and in a new job and feeling a bit down

I’m very ND and struggle with rudeness I also started a new job. I’m work in education and no one told me about the fact I needed to be somewhere and had no access to systems and I was met with “it’s fine just leave it. Forget it I’m here now”

I can honestly say I know the frustration and I get how annoying it is when someone doesn’t turn up to something, but when someone’s new is there no grace or understanding. It really upset me and I cried in the bathroom. It’s silly but I’m very sensitive to tone. It felt like “go away stupid I’ve picked up what you should have done now just go”

What are you hoping to get by telling us?

I’m not sure what you’re asking here. Yes it’s unfortunate that you failed to present at a meeting, but if you really didn’t know about it, there’s nothing to be done now. Make your apologies and move on, is all I could suggest.

Am I missing something?

Take a breath and try again tomorrow. Explain what you need in terms of communication and know that it will be better if you try x

I would not start a job by apologising for something I had not been told about. It may yet get better

Probably a bit of confidence and reassurance that they were not being oversensitive? I think their reaction isn't a reflection on you but I'm sure it felt personal. Often the tone can imply they are angry at themselves because by not ensuring you were properly briefed it has caused themselves extra work. Tomorrow is another day, you are ok!

I expect your overwhelmed op .
It's a new environment for you ,
Once you get used to the system and they way everything works you will be fine .
You got the job so they must have faith in you ,that you can actually do the job.
Dry your tears ,this is just a wobble.
Speak to your line manager if you have one ,or who ever is in charge and ask to be taken through the systems so you understand what is required of you for next time xx
