Anyone else fed up with HR work and considering a career change?

I am so sick of working in my late 30s. I have worked in HR for about 18 years. It’s what my degree and masters is in. I have two small kids and can’t really do anything else that would give me the same level of income or even one that would allow flexibility with two kids.

HR (which I know a lot of people hate), is pretty mentally draining. Hearing other people’s problems and dealing with employee issue just takes it out of you.

Anyway, does anyone feel the same? Or ideas for careers that are better.

For flexibility and interesting work I don’t think I can beat HR, however I do a lot of payroll in my role so I would consider that. Are you in a particular industry?

Thanks @Overtheatlantic , I think you might be right about the flexibility for HR. Currently I’m working in a smallish professional body (c.100 employees). I think I might better moving back to public sector as that was more straightforward for me. Might be a salary decrease but I can live with that.

I hate payroll 😂
