Help - credit card bill due tomorrow, only paid today

I have a credit card bill or charge to pay by the 15th. I meant to do it before now but it slipped my mind. I only paid about half an hour ago.

My credit card institution is different from my bank.

After paying the credit card it said please allow up to 2 days for the money to process.

Do you think this will get through and I won't be hit with a charge?

Yes. But possibly no depending on the banks.

stardqoes · 14/04/2026 12:59

Go back on previous statements and see how long it takes to process.

Sidebeforeself · 14/04/2026 13:00

Sadly I think they will charge you. I mean, its how they make their money.

I’ve often done it pretty much under the wire and haven’t been charged. (Tesco credit card/Nationwide or Lloyds bank). Once I did, but I called them and they could see on my records that I always pay off the total bill every month so maybe they took pity on me that once.

It's usually next day for me.

Would they be able to see that I paid before the due date?

It doesn’t matter if they can see when you paid it (which is highly unlikely). It only matters when the payment is credited to pay down the debt.

if you’ve missed the date likely they will charge. If this is the first time they may refund the charges if you ask - this will be discretionary though

Ring them and let them know it's on it's way! Ask them to change the final date for payments.
It's not that difficult!

How did you pay? Was it a same day payment? I'm with Tesco bank and the statement always reflects the day I pay even if it's a Saturday. If I do a debit card payment it shows the date I paid it online even if it debits my account the next day and I recently paid on a Saturday and was surprised the date showed the Saturday as the money didn't debit until the Monday.

With a same day transfer it should show the date you transferred.

Do a faster payment, it’s immediate

bittertwisted · 14/04/2026 13:28

They won’t charge you, I program payment systems

My credit card account says 65 pounds pending credit.

You won't be charged in my opinion.

The OP has already paid

RandomMess · 14/04/2026 14:02

I have rang up the credit card company before to explain the situation and they’ve waived the fee/changed the due date to allow it to be processed.

Then it is more then likely going to be fine, if not it’s just a small fine anyway:
