Anyone else with a long torso struggles to find long tops?

I just find that shirts, t shirts, jumpers etc are all too short. It's a pain. Anyone else?

Yep. All bloody crop tops. And the ones that just about fit shrink 2cm in the wash then end up crop tops anyway

Strictlyshortly · 13/04/2026 18:47

Me too! It’s so annoying, shorter length tops/jumpers are very ‘in’ at the moment

Damnd · 13/04/2026 18:52

I just buy the tall range, long tall sally is good (even though I'm not tall), or search longer length tops. Lots available.

OldHattie · 13/04/2026 18:54

I am fairly tall and get mine from long tall sally. Otherwise I look like Whinnie the Pooh

Yellowpapersun · 13/04/2026 18:58

I'm 5'7" so taller than average and I hate that feeling where you want to tug your top down all the time. I get tops from Long Tall Sally but I wish there was more choice elsewhere.

PiglingBlandings · 13/04/2026 19:02

Yes. I always check lengths of jumpers for this reason. Ideally more than 60cm for comfort. And dresses need trying on otherwise the waist is round the rib age.

Laiste · 13/04/2026 19:04

I've got a few tops from LTS and they're better than average length in the high st but i wouldn't say they're much longer. They're still only hip length. And once you've wriggled around and bent over a few times they've ridden up.

I expect a 'long' top to come down to the top of my thighs.

magicstar1 · 13/04/2026 19:06

I’ve bought a lot of tee shirt dresses instead of just tee shirts as they work much better

Pippick · 13/04/2026 19:07

Some years the fashion for short t shirts meant I couldn't buy any at all. I'm only 5'8" but long body.

Edited

This is true - they definitely don't cover my bum and I am 'only' 5'9"

Yes!! The current trend of short/cropped tops and jumpers is driving me nutty, esp as I’m plus size and the cut across my belly is far from complimentary EnvyBlush

ive found a few oversized/long T-shirts in Next so far

OhBettyCalmDown · 13/04/2026 19:14

I have a short torso and still struggle. So many are cropped and it drives me insane!

HarryVanderspeigle · 13/04/2026 19:20

Yep! And while I may have looked good in a crop top as a teenager, middle age gut spill over is not a great look. I wear long vests to prevent flashing belly, but wish longer tops were the norm. Also, lots of online photos show the model with the top ticked in, or sitting weirdly scrunched up, so you can't even tell how long from the picture.

Kpo58 · 13/04/2026 20:18

Apparently they want all women (Same applies with girls clothing too) to have bare midriffs.

It's so hard to find something that reaches my bottom and not end up with a 2-4 inch gap.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 13/04/2026 20:43

Also 5’8 and long bodied… my T shirt ideal is 64cm long plus. I wear tunics and night shirts as shirts. I miss Gap Tall !! I’ve not been blown away with the quality of LTD since the “original” closed.

PauliesWalnuts · 13/04/2026 20:53

I’m only 5ft6 and I struggle. Sometimes I search for tunic tops rather than normal ones. Even more annoying is that I’ve got really short legs, so need a petite for some ranges of trousers, and a size 9 feet!

PilesofGuilt · 13/04/2026 20:55

I have the same problem! Not a fan of LTS as the quality on the ones I've ordered doesn't seem great and the sizing is not very reliable. The choice from Next also seems much more limited than it was. I've just ordered myself a top which was listed as a tunic, which seems shorter than I'd expect a tunic to be.
Haven't found any nice jumpers or cardigans though. Pre-kids I had a lovely tailored denim jacket from the next tall range which no longer fits.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 13/04/2026 20:58

Absolutely. Lots are too short for me. Standard tops, jumpers and cardis have got shorter. Even when not labelled cropped, they are! Frustrating.

jollygreenpea · 13/04/2026 22:15

For bog standard t shirts, hoodies I just buy men's, they tend to be longer usually, but not all of them.
I kept seeing ads for men's longer length t shirts, to get over their beer bellies.
I didn't buy any but wish I had.

CandyEnclosingInvisible · 13/04/2026 22:21

Me too!
I have some great tunic tops that I got from SeaSalt a few years ago that are a perfect length and a nice shape. Unfortunately most of this year's designs are really wrong for my body shape and look awful but I have hopes that each new season there will sometimes be something good. I have also had some good length tops from Ulla Popken - but caution, they dispatch from an EU warehouse and deliveries can take weeks.

JoanThursday · 13/04/2026 22:27

Yes! Me! I was moaning about this just yesterday. I'm 5'7" and long bodied. M&s used to do relaxed longer length t shirts which were perfect, but no longer.

I reckon the tendency for shops to stock shorter length tops is because jeans and trousers are more high-waisted at the moment. Doesn't help us though!

Hmmm. Maybe, but I’ve always had issues with tops being too short, even when jeans were very low slung. I think tops are getting shorter to use less fabric though. Clothing shrinkflation.

ItsaFairWind · 13/04/2026 23:06

Yes, long sleeved Ts, I wear mens often, but I prefer the fit of women's tops and I like a scoop neck.

domesticslattern · 13/04/2026 23:33

I hear you! It's impossible.
Please please post if anyone has found any good quality longer length scoop T-shirts or vests, ideally not LTS or only online.
I'd buy in bulk!

Cleocaterpillar · 13/04/2026 23:45

Yes, why is everything a bloody crop top now? I'm 5' 11" so a normal person's crop top is a necklace on me.

And don't get me started on jumpsuits! Have yet to find one that doesn't try to cut me in half length ways.
