Looking for recommendations for UK break - next week!

DH and I have the opportunity to go away for three nights next week, likely Monday - Thursday

We will stay in the UK, and are in Surrey - happy to travel by car or train for a few hours.

Looking for suggestions please, would like somewhere pretty buzzy - we loved staying in Bristol, Bath etc before.

any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Salcombe (not overly buzzy but beautiful)

Oh and Canterbury

Liverpool. Fab friendly city, loads to do and definitely buzzy!

I wouldn't really call Canterbury, Chester or York buzzy, but they're all lovely, definitely recommend. In the same vein, Salisbury and Winchester.

Oxford I found very very touristy, lots of people everywhere, but interesting museums and things to see.

we went to Margate last year and had days out by train to Canterbury and Whitstable. Going back this year. We didn’t but you could stay at lovely Walpole Bay Hotel. At least go for a visit. They let you explore it like a museum

Liverpool, lots to see, great food, usually live music on in lots of places. Some brilliant museums. Last time we were there we did a walking tour that was excellent about the history. Easy to get to, some lovely hotels too, the municipal is great if you have the budget.

York or Hay on Wye
