How do ordinary users get followers on Instagram?

I used to be on instagram but struggled to get any followers no matter what i posted so in the end I deleted it as didn't see the point if there was no interaction at all etc

Decided to try again so am about to make a new account and was wondering to anyone on instagram how do you get some followers?! Is it better to have a 'theme' and stick to it or post anything and everything?

I don't want to be an influencer or anything I'm just a normal user.

My followers came from my hobby , I followed and interacted with people over our shared interest and they chose to follow me back.

identify your niche. Identify others in your niche and engage with them. Post regularly a range of content focused on your niche but make sure you prioritise engagement.

Why do you want them? And that’s not an arsey question btw, genuinely curious. If you’re not a business or using it for engagement etc, why do you care/what does it matter to you?
(and as you may be able to tell by my question, I don’t know the answer to yours 😊)

Why would you want that? Are you starting a cult?

Honestly why do you want random people following you? Live is short. Spend it making friends in real life. I like mumsnet but don't want anyone to follow me. I change names every few weeks and have done for 20 years.

Why do you want followers? Unless of course you have something to sell or a campaign to champion. In which case there are lots of tips people can give.
