Has anyone developed a black triangle between front teeth suddenly?

I randomly woke up one day with some gum above my front teeth missing creating a 'black triangle' and looking awful. I've always made sure to look after my teeth, brush twice a day for 2 minutes and wear a retainer every night. I switched to an electric toothbrush recently on the advice of hygienist. Admittedly, I only really went once every 2-3 years which is my own fault. The electric toothbrush head I think was too firm and made my gums bleed, and I decided once I'd finished with it (they are not cheap!) I would switch to a softer one, but it seems damage has already been done.

Has anyone else ever had this happen and did you manage to sort it out? I've been beside myself with stress thinking how I'll never look the same again and will need to fork out lots of money on trying to fix this. I've actually been in tears multiple times and feeling so self conscious.😭It wouldn't even be so bad if i'd lost gum where it isn't as visible but it's right between my front teeth!!

Just to add, I went straight to the dentist and they don't understand how it has happened either, they say my gums and teeth seem healthy.

You need the inter denture brushes. Cheap at Home Bargains.
