New life abroad

I’m 40. Work in PR. No kids, no partner.

I work extremely long and hard hours. Very good salary. OK company. But I’m deeply unhappy.

I’m wondering if I should make a change and go live abroad. Somewhere sunny.

Anyone have any ideas on where and what I could do?

Do you have an EU passport? Or speak any other languages?

The most straightforward would be if your company could move you or put you on placement.

Do you have the right to work anywhere else eg EU passport? If moving isn’t an option could you take a sabbatical? Or contract for 8months on, 4 off.

If you have no commitments and want to do than go for it, however it is very easy to have an idealized version of somewhere than the reality been different when you live there day to day. Most countries are facing big issues right now especially with housing and cost of living.
But so much depends on the person as an individual and what works for one person may not work for another. I'd say really do your research on somewhere if you were planning to move. The good, The bad and the ugly as everywhere has it.

I did just that. But it isn't easy particularly post Brexit as now you have to meet the criteria for each individual countries visa requirements

Living abroad is different from being on holiday

You need to speak the languages (yes even Spain etc). As you will need to speak to healthcare professionals and deal with councils etc.

You will be away from family and friends and have to make people efforts to make new ones

Taxes in other countries can be much higher and that is something to consider

Having said all of that I have zero regrets

What would then be better
