Stunts like this are a gift to the far right

That is a long article about dodgy people fleecing desperate people for a lot of money,

The one guy who said he used this service is now blocked from returning to the UK.

It makes for good headlines I guess

Yes it's a scam.

DuncinToffee · 15/04/2026 13:33

I didn't watch PMQs, saw this exchange on SM

Davey:
President Trump has threatened to rip up his trade deal with the UK as punishment for us not joining his idiotic war in Iran.

Surely the Prime Minister can't send our King to meet a man who treats our country like a mafia boss running a protection racket."

Starmer:
My position on the Iran war has been clear from the start, we’re not going to get dragged into this war.
It is not our war, and a lot of pressure has been applied to me to take a different course, and that pressure included what happened last night.
I’m not going to change my mind. I’m not going to yield. It is not in our national interest to join this war, and we will not do so.

In relation to the King’s visit, the purpose of the visit is to mark the 250th anniversary of relations and independence, obviously, of the US.
The monarchy is an important reminder of the long-standing bonds and enduring relationship between our two countries, which are far greater than anyone who occupies any particular office at any particular time.

I think that might have been a parliament approved version of "Trump is a dick." from Starmer.

I love this from the Palace. They’re so skilled at the subtle put down.

^A Palace spokesman said: “This is celebrating a partnership
between two nations and two peoples. It is a relationship that has survived many presidencies and, of course, many reigns and will no doubt continue to do so long into the future.”^

Fuck that. It's 250 years of tax dodgers united.

Meanwhile there are real charities who help gay, bi, trans people escape persecution and seek refuge in our tolerant country who will probably now face protests, online hate and persecution and public outing by horrible far right people.

The UK economy saw its biggest monthly rise in February in more than two years, official figures show.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the economy grew by a faster-than-expected 0.5%, while it revised its estimate for January up to 0.1% after previously saying the start of the year had seen no growth.
The figures cover a period before the outbreak of the US-Israeli war with Iran

Almost as if something has happened since 2024.

BBC Alert.

What crucial change in reading is there between the headline in screenshot

"Migrants making false domestic abuse claims to stay in UK, BBC investigation finds"

And the very first line in the "article" (it's hardly reporting)

Migrants are falsely claiming to be victims of domestic abuse in order to stay in the country, a BBC investigation has discovered.

But it’s all going to hell in a handcart, isn’t it? I’m so confused.

placemats · 16/04/2026 11:13

I'm not confused. It's that 🍊💩 POTUS who's doing it. He loves being nasty and basks in people who suffer because of his actions.

I agree. That is really poor reporting.

All those involved/ running these fraudulent schemes need to be locked up (and their own immigration status looked at where appropriate), and we need to be doing a much better job of prevention.

I don't blame as much those that want to stay in the UK,I hold those enabling fraud highly responsible.

Agree - actually there has actually always been a sort of check on the lawyers acting for migrants - eg noting anything a bit odd, checking stuff and action then taken against those appearing dodgy - this is however a slow process and when it moves on then it’s still slow having to go via SRA usually.

It is the lawyers making the cash out of the migrants that disgusts me - I believe they’re sometimes told to ignore their own narrative in favour of the one provided. Some are so let down they don’t get leave when they should have done as the solicitor doesn’t seem to know the right/relevant rules.

Here vulnerable is a synonym for stupid.

Stupid poor people for their vote.
Stupid rich people for their support.

You will notice that proposition also asserts that wealth and intelligence are only loosely connected.

I am amused at poor Nigel Farage being forced to act as if he really wants to win in order to stave off a visit from the HR department of his boss.

‘Utterly shocking’ - Candidate accuses Farage’s heavies of ‘picking fight’ with Lerwick pensioner over disabled parking space row

An election candidate has accused Nigel Farage’s heavies of “goon-like behaviour”.
