Dossier on all Reform candidates - huge amount of work has gone into this. Some of the stuff is awful. Actually all of it is.

When we were taught how to synthesise paracetamol at university, they never told us what viruses to add or how to get them in there. I was robbed!

Britain should rejoin EU, says man who led Brexit department

Philip Rycroft, who oversaw the Department for Exiting the European Union from 2017 to 2019, said none of Leave’s ‘heady promises’ had materialised

https://www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/article/brexit-rejoining-eu-g7dfc9rbn

He said “"The precise number, and the impact on our export performance to the EU and beyond, might be subject to debate, but no one can credibly claim that we have marched to the sunny uplands of sustained economic growth as a consequence of Brexit."

He said it was "not hard to see" why people may be "falling out of love" with Brexit.

The problem is the scorched earth policy of Johnson and his Tory party has made that pretty much a pipedream.

He acknowledges that. And that no rejoin would be on the preferential terms we had before. It’s bloody heartbreaking.

TLP is sending out a link at 10.00 to their PPB for people to share!

That explains the Reform threads popping up

Just opened Mumsnet and top 3 active threads are about Reform - I’m already on one but couldn’t bring myself to open the other 2 - it’s like whack a mole!

I’m a little surprised it’s Reform still leading the way on sm as I understood Lowe’s Restore was backed by Musk - maybe he’ll just shrivel and disappear like the slug he is. I’d be glad, except I’d like the right vote to be split!

I have seen quite a few of those before but seeing them in one document is something different.

Only yesterday Reform expelled a Gateshead one for ties with the BNP, he is still on the ballot

I will leave them to shout, these threads are not there for debate.

Remember that familiarity breeds contempt.

Also, this noise isn't meant to actually attract votes. It's intended to paint a picture of the huge wave of reform support being denied power by "the blob".

Another thing to remember: the only political party that is not involved in the electoral reform process is Reform. The last thing they want is more democratic representation.

LlynTegid · 24/04/2026 08:16

In Wales/Cymru it seems to me voting Plaid is the best option to keep Reform out.

Overall, definitely but it’s more complex in some constituencies where Reform could get the 6th seat.

cardibach · 24/04/2026 12:41

I’m having a total mare with the website. Still wouldn’t give me ‘I’m on’ so gave in a cleared my whole cache. No joy. Website now won’t work at all, and neither did much else. Saved all my open tab addresses in notes and shut everything down. Reopened everything. Still not working. App is ok on my phone (that’s what I’m using) but it’s clunky and the I’m on page doesn’t take you to last read. Argh.

BestIsWest · 24/04/2026 13:01

Yes, in fact the sixth seat in Gŵyr Abertawe could go Labour or Green according to some polls. It looks like 2 Reform, 2 PC, 1 Lab. What DH and I would both like is to know what vote would have the best chance of reducing the Reform number down to 1.

Vote for whoever you know will get things sorted locally.

Doesn’t help if it means they aren’t elected and a Reform person is instead though. The d’Hondt system is Byzantine in its complexity when you want to achieve blocking of one party as well as getting someone you want into post. The lists make it quite tricky to got for a person too…

cardibach · 24/04/2026 13:30

Finally sorted my website issues by the way! It’s been a right arse and is still affecting some things…

In all my life here, we have had 2xTory councillors who have done fuck all.

Well, not true. One did reply to my complaint saying "What wlse did you expect with a Labour council ?". He retired and his son took over.

It’s the Senedd not the council elections so you are not really voting for individuals.

Llttledrummergirls · 24/04/2026 14:00

I'm not much help, in local elections I usually go for the person whose door is can knock on if I have a problem. Caveat, I avoid groups on both the far right and the far left (we have both here).

That would leave me not voting.

Even if I spoiled my ballot (which I would not do) I would never not vote.

Use it or lose it.

I wouldn’t either but I’ve never been in a position to be able to knock on any politician’s door if I had a problem so that approach doesn’t help me. All three of our current ward councillors are Lib Dem and they seem to be doing a decent job so they probably get my vote again next month.

Much as I hate to type it, I'd rather people voted Reform than just not vote.

Mainly because it would deprive me of the ability to ignore between 30 to 60 % of the population as being totally irrelevant. Which is my idea of fun these days.

Hmmm "My Idea of Fun" - Will Self (checks) - yes I thought it had a ring 😀

Any other fans of "the Self" here ?

BIossomtoes · 24/04/2026 15:11

Anyone else had a response from the Beeb to their complaint about the Reform logo being used on the news?

Ah okay. There's local elections in England as well and I got confused.
