Can't edit my post but probably should have added and/or the Met Police.

Piggywaspushed · 23/04/2026 18:15

Also, yesterday was the anniversary of the murder of Stephen Lawrence.

A parliamentary by-election is a lot different from a council election. Obviously devolved Parliamnets are different.

I meant the MN reaction, not the election itself

Was there ever a follow up from that election watch group who reported the family voting?

Nothing was found. Reformaloons responded by saying 'well, they would say that'.

As well as being St George's Day/ Shakespeare's birthday, today is also the anniversary of the death of Blair Peach at the hands of the Far Right. Lest We Forget.

DM marched in Southall when that happened. It was next door to us in Harrow.

DM used to love visiting Southall for all the lovely fabrics.

Of course there wasn't. However, agree there could be incoming posts. Thankfully I'll be in Rome. Promise not to fiddle.

Damn it. I’ve logged out and in again on the website and still no joy.

cardibach · 23/04/2026 18:46

I’m very sad tonight. A lovely lurched I’ve walked and interacted with a fair bit at the home has had to be put to sleep. He had resource guarding issues which couldn’t be resolved so it wasn’t responsible to rehome him, plus some health issues with his noodle legs. The behaviour team have worked with him for a year and he’s been with some expert fosterer for a couple of months but it was intractable. Drinking to him tonight. Go well Darty Boy 😢

Oh that is sad. Sorry Cardi. God speed Darty Boy.

Just noticed swallows coming and going on the house opposite. They're so quick!

BIWI · 23/04/2026 19:40

That's sad @cardibach :(

PickAChew · 23/04/2026 19:44

He was such a gorgeous long boy, @cardibach 🍷 😥

cardibach · 23/04/2026 21:25

MN says it’s my cache and I need to delete. I’m not doing that. I need my history, it’s very useful. The need to sort their own issues out. It’s never, in my experience, the cache anyway.

Llttledrummergirls · 23/04/2026 21:29

Our last dog was a lurcher crossed with a large breed. Looked like a lurcher on steroids. I'm sorry for your loss (he may not have been solely yours but it doesn't stop those feelings).Flowers

Dh and I are interailing in May, we leave here on election day and first stop is Paris for a couple of days. We wanted an adventure.

No it's not the cache. It's something going awry at MN. They're fiddling again, for some reason.

Hopefully it will all be back to normal tomorrow!

BestIsWest · 23/04/2026 22:44

Sorry @cardibach. Poor boy.

Driving home this evening I went under a bridge with half a dozen Reform supporters wearing red hats and waving Union flags and England flags. We are in Wales FGS. I know it’s St George’s day but it’s the Senedd we’re electing.

My vote is still up in the air. It will be Plaid or Labour. I like the Labour no 2 very much but I will have to work out which is best to keep the Reform out. DH will probably vote Plaid.

MsJinks · 24/04/2026 07:24

Oh so sorry @cardibach- he is so gorgeous- such a sad thing when this has to happen 😞

MsJinks · 24/04/2026 07:29

TemperanceWest · 23/04/2026 16:47

Two weeks to go. I expect MN to be anti-Labour/Green and pro-Reform froth central. Tories are probably an irrelevance at this point and may end up with fewer seats than Labour in all three countries? Not sure about Lib Dems? I would like to see them do well.

One around this morning - 2 strikes in one go - benefits/PIP for foreign nationals - Nige is apparently speaking out about this horror!

I mean he’s definitely not going to on any local council - but think Kent included immigration stuff.

Sigh.

In Wales/Cymru it seems to me voting Plaid is the best option to keep Reform out.

TLP is sending out a link at 10.00 to their PPB for people to share!

It is sneaking in on other threads as well. People are very coy when asked what they mean with 'British'

Farage was missing form both the Mandelson debate and PMQs

Oh I cannot abide that ‘British’ debate - it’s so dire 🙈

And, I think, there are as many different definitions of it as there were/are of Brexit - so that’s a handy debate to get vitriol and divisiveness ongoing for years, and as Farage ‘cop out’ - ‘That’s not my British’ - sigh.

DuncinToffee · 24/04/2026 10:04

Britain should rejoin EU, says man who led Brexit department

Philip Rycroft, who oversaw the Department for Exiting the European Union from 2017 to 2019, said none of Leave’s ‘heady promises’ had materialised

https://www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/article/brexit-rejoining-eu-g7dfc9rbn

He said “"The precise number, and the impact on our export performance to the EU and beyond, might be subject to debate, but no one can credibly claim that we have marched to the sunny uplands of sustained economic growth as a consequence of Brexit."

He said it was "not hard to see" why people may be "falling out of love" with Brexit.
